Weapon Augs

There should be Type 15 Augs that are for weapons only, and are world drops off of white cons or above to any level ONLY.

Type 1, really.

Though not sure what the point would be, what with no suggestion that they should have stats, or do anything whatever.

Ok....THIS is how you put forward a suggestion and/or request (take notes):
Disclaimer: While I think this IS a great idea, I don't see anyone going for it, and it would be a ton of work I'm sure. This isn't so much an actual request as it is a demonstration for the OP on how to do it right. Of course if the peoples/staff likes the idea and it's do-able...well fuck yeah!

I'll go one further here: Instead of the augs dropping off white-cons, you should be able to distill old raid gear into an aug based on its properties.
All numbers are arbitrary.
Categories:
Ratio
Proc
Clicky
Stats
HP/Mana
Advanced Item Effects

Hand your old no-drop weapon into Random NPC and go through a /cm d# dialogue to determine which category you wish to distill from the weapon.

If you choose ratio, the resulting aug will bestow a [Pristine] ratio on the new weapon when attached.

If you choose stats, the aug will have stat increases on it equal to the difference between the distilled item's stats, and what those stats would be if it had the [Pristine] tag. (So basically 10% of the stats the item had will become an aug)

If you choose Proc, the aug will provide the same proc effect with half the original proc rate. This effect would not work on a weapon that already has a proc.

If you choose HP/Mana: See the Stats selection, but for HP/Mana.

If you choose clicky, the clicky effect is moved to the aug with a tripled casting time. For instant clickers, 5.0 sec.

If you choose the Advanced Item Effects, any advanced item effects the distilled weapon posseses are reduced by half (rounded up to a whole number) and turned into an aug.

Upside that I can see: This would make for a more interactive and (at least on the surface) customization-friendly raid progression. This would also help guilds rot fewer drops, and reduce some of the "Damnit, our rogue already has an Anos dagger....stop dropping them!"

Downside that I can see: It may encourage the sniping of certain raid targets to obtain certain weapons to distill. May cause slight balance issues.

Possible controls/side-effects that I can see: A substantial plat price (therefore minor sink) could be placed on distilling augs. A system (if possible by code) could be put into place to prevent distilling the same item more than once, or linking the aug to the original item's ID in such a way that [LORE] would still apply, making it so you can't have the same item AND its distilled aug.

Stuff I'm definately not sure about: Should the augs poof on de-aug or not? I'm inclined to say no, so folks aren't re-farming the best augs ever over and over again. With a significant enough price to distill a weapon, there should be no reason to force repeat after repeat for the same augs.

i think augs as a whole are a bad idea. with tomes to do there's already not enough time in a day to try to catch up to people who are ahead of me. if even more augs were added that i NEED to get then you'll make the mountain i've been trying to climb even further out of reach and i will never be able to raid tier 9 with the big dogs of the server.

It was possible to aug yer already proccing weps in live with ldon augs to add another proc. I remember that being a fun way to customize gear. Would be cool here i think.

Yeah that's why I asked if it was possible here. There are casters with bracers that have a proc and are augged with something that adds another proc but I'm not sure if that actually works or not.

I added code for aug procs back when I was doing thurg bounty stuff. 5 procs on one weapon is no problem.
