Warrior weapon questions

P.J.

Dalayan Beginner
I'm a freshly budding warrior and have a few questions on weapons. Currently every group I join just about every melee can pull threat from me pretty easily (SK & Paladin doesn't bother me as much as the DPS ones), I taunt and it hops right back to them. With this I'm aware sometimes it is a simple level issue (and AA's), but other times I know it is a gearing issue, which is something I can ask for help on.

Right now at level 57, I'm using these two weapons:
Fillet Knife - http://wiki.shardsofdalaya.com/index.php/Fillet_Knife
Spear of Provocation - http://wiki.shardsofdalaya.com/index.php/Spear_of_Provocation

I currently have no +aggression gear, although I'm told that would help.

The spear seems reasonable for a tanking weapon, but I know my Fillet Knife is pretty poor. I'm working on the Ruby Hilted Longsword quest (http://wiki.shardsofdalaya.com/index.php/Ruby_Hilted_Longsword) however that is a very hard quest and I'm not sure if it is really the best weapon for me.

I'm looking for gear suggestions, this is my first toon on SoD, so everything I got I earned from scratch, and with that price is something of an issue. I'm more than willing to round up people and attempt to camp something. Where should I go to get gear to improve my threat? Am I overlooking some great items? What procs would you guys recommend, hate procs don't seem to have much effect for me.

I'm working on a guild to start doing tier 1 and treasure map things when I hit 65, but that is still a ways off, I really need something to fill in the gaps because it seems like no matter what I do my threat is just never enough, monks and rogues constantly take it from me (and yes I realize that it is partially their responsibility to not do so). Style 4 doesn't seem to do enough to hold it most of the time either for me.

Here is my character info to save you time: http://shardsofdalaya.com/fomelo/fomelo.php?char=Danin

Thanks for your input.

RHLS is great aggro. Your 2ndary isn't bad aggro even at lvl 65. The best way of increasing your hate right now is haste and AA's.

Right now your biggest concern should be your haste, or lack thereof. Haste is a huge portion of a warrior's aggro and dps. The remedy: Cloak of Blind Rage or Fossilized Bone Fragment. I'd recommend the latter because it has more haste and you'll get a hefty return, possibly even profit, from the maps (assuming they are yours).

Your offhand is decent right now, and shouldn't be replaced yet. However, your mainhand is more garbo than Eyate's penis. The reward for Dawnpride Quest of Manhood is a pristine Ruby Hilted Longsword, which will last you well into the lower tiers. This quest can be duo'd from start to finish at your level in several hours, and even faster if you buy the two droppable components (Royal Jelly and Ancient Treant Leaves); ~400p each.

Those two pieces will render tremendous results.

real warriors use 2 handers

Shut the fuck up.

RHLS is a great one for you. Doing the quest and getting is pristine is the way to go. (Although you can get one for ~1K) Try to buy the Ancient treant leaves if you can. Those treants are hell at your level.

Doing the Amice of the Golden Dawn quest is worthwhile as well. Decent piece that gives 10% overhaste when outdoors. Every bit of haste helps.

As far as other gear, you've got some stuff that you can replace fairly on the cheap and get a decent upgrade. Wyvernhide is not expensive. And augs, too. You should really aug the stuff you're gonna keep for a while. Even if it's only until 65. I know that AC doesn't determine aggro, but you've gotta stay alive when you DO start keeping it from those damn monks! GL to you bro.

Rogues shouldn't take it from you. Tell them they need to evade more. Monks... Well monks have two options, feign it off (works if they aren't too much of the groups dps... otherwise assistance penalty hits ya) or just pretend they are caster burn and let you work on the mob a bit longer before hopping in.
