Warrior Thurgadin Quest - Glamorous Visor

I would like to suggest a new location for the Starmetal Ingot or just to remove it from the quest entirely. I've tried to invis and invis v undead and cannot get through. Those mobs are way too tough for the suggested level of the quest: 51-60. I was playing my 56 warrior, boxing a 57 shaman with 16aa's, my cousin was playing his 60 mage (12 aa's) and his 59 cleric (12 aa's). We just weren't able to do it. After talking with a few people, they mentioned those mobs were recently placed in the tunnel because of some Vah quest. Someone also said that a full group of 65's can have trouble in there. I don't know what kind of gear they had though.

The quest is a lot more difficult in comparison to any of the other Thurgadin quests I've done. I'm not looking for a handout, but would think it should be on scale with the other quests. Chromasurge was hard enough to get, I tried to camp him months ago for over a week and never got him. I was boxing a ranger to track also. It frustrated me and caused me to quit the game. I finally came back a few weeks ago, got motivated recently to try Chromasurge again, and got him. Then I realized how big a PITA the Starmetal Ingot part was. I haven't purchased a face item due to this quest and would really like to save the 1.2k'ish if I can.

Can we please do something or at least look into it? Thanks.

P.S. I hope this is in the right forum and that I shouldn't have put it in the Classes & Gear category.

Any new information on this? I tried to get down there the other day just in case there was a ninja fix, but I still got my butt kicked.

Thanks in advance.

I'm a little behind on posting about this.. but I'll do it anyway.

But yeah, you are totally right. The ground spawn in Starfall for the Thurgadin Warrior Mask is impossible for any one of the appropriate level to do.. It would be difficult for a group of high 60's if they weren't geared and set up decently for their level. Their are traps in the tunnels that root you.. and mobs that see invis, and charge from out of no where. And the way the tunnel is made and the mobs set up you can't avoid it... Plus, the mobs are blue at 65 and put up a pretty good fight. so.. no way a group of level 50-55'ish people can get in there to help a warrior get that spawn. And even if they could.. why would they? It's significantly harder than any other Thurgadin quest I ever helped anyone do, Chromasurge is a pain in the ass and then you have to get a few 65's to help you get a ground spawn that is in a trapped underwater tunnel full of mobs that knock back...

So, yes... for all the new warriors out there... please fix this for them.

You could farm 6 deepmetal visors in the time it would take to do this. The itemization is not great compared to the knight barbutes.

As far as I know it has been fixed. That or I was extremely lucky... I used to swim down the east tunnel and would get r@ped. Well, after talking to someone who said they just did the quest recently with invis, I tried the west tunnel and was able to get my item. I did get rooted, but with EB + invis (I did have invis v undead as well) I got the item and swam out safely.

Thanks for fixing this quest. I held out for that mask and finally acquired it!

I've just been trying this quest and have died repeatedly. Apparently whatever was fixed is now broken, if it ever was fixed.

Maybe it's a matter of luck??

I've tried both tunnels and on 2 different days with the same result. The traps are annoying, but the acolytes are just brutal and impossible to get around.

Time has been scarce for me, so this hasnt' gotten done. It'll be my priority today. I'll repost here when its done (after work).

It was just luck. I finished the quest today. The Acolytes roam, so it depends on where they are when you start as whether you will run into them or not. Plus they see you and aggro before you can even see them, so once you see one it's too late to do anything. A few times I just entered the tunnel when I was slamed and a couple of time I was almost to the tower before they found me. I was finally able to swim in, grab the Starmetal Ingot and was just coming out of the tower when they spotted me.

Well I guess I just lucked out. If I was still trying to get that mask I probably would have /wrist a long time ago.

Congrats to up and coming warriors!

I tried 10 times today, with Invis and Invis to Undead. The Acolytes do not see invis but the pets see me everytime, and then the Acolytes are on me and it's over. I even tried a few times to send my Druid in first in hopes to distract them, but no go. I know people say it's possible, but we should not be required to rely on dumb luck to get a ground spawn for this quest. And after the torture of the finding Chromasurge, and the near perma camped 3.5+ hour respawn Najads, this is just seems cruel after that.

Cute... those are new mobs. We'll take a look at them and see what can be done.

Why do you make such intentionally mean quests Cyzaine do you just hate warriors or what?!?!?

Just an update, I finally got my Mask. I still believe this may be a little difficult due to the Acolytes. I died nearly 20 times trying before I finally got it. I will post how I got it in hopes that it may help my fellow Warriors in the future.

With max Swimming (200)I entered from the East tunnel, with Invis, See Invis, and Enduring Breath. I swam across the ceiling of the tunnel, halfway through the tunnel/main chamber the ceiling raises, I would climb ASAP. Then once in the main chamber I would start diving toward the tower (Careful, not to close to the Tower, there is a named Mob on the top that will hit for +500, I found out the hard way). Once at the base of the tower, I swam around to the doorway. Once in the room, the Starmetal is in the corner (I believe it’s to the right of the doorway)

Now for me, I got in the first time this way, but I had an Acolyte on me as I enter the room and died. The next time, My brothers Cleric lead the way, the plan was he would get any agro first and use Divine Aura as I swam pass. As it turned out, He didn’t get agroed at all, but I did and died again, however he made it to the room, and Rezzed my previous corpse, and I grabbed the Starmetal.

Good luck.

Are the approaches in this thread still the best way to attempt to get the Starmetal Ingot?

I worked swimming up into the 150-200 range, and am using a SoW/invis to try to sneak by the see invis mobs, but it seems like they never path far enough down the tunnel to allow for this.
I can keep the mob's pet on the edge of my vision and follow it in when I get lucky, but either it or another one seems to stop mid-way between the center cavity and myself.

I wonder if the possibility exists that if they are killed independently at particular time intervals, when they respawn they produce a roaming pattern that makes it impossible to sneak by until they are killed again (at "better" time intervals). Perhaps the two mobs happened to respawn, this time, in such a way that one will always be roaming down either tunnel? That is just a hypothesis at this point, but the "sneak by" approach taken by others doesn't seem to be feasible based on what I am seeing.

Can anyone offer further advice?

Well, I got the item. Here is my experience with this as I saw it:

The "sneak through" approach didn't seem to be working past the see invis mobs, so I tried an IVU pot in addition to regular invis. While swimming into the cave from the East entrance, I also tried swimming at the very bottom left of the tunnel, instead of the middle/top as I had previously.

I ended up getting rooted by the Chokeweeds trap about halfway through the tunnel (from the entrance to the center cavity). The trap did not break invis or IVU, and only lasted perhaps 30-60 seconds, which was fortunate. I have made it to that point before (got rooted right ontop of a past corpse), and up until then I had never gotten rooted. The only difference was IVU -- so I don't know if I had just been lucky all the other times, or if there is something about having IVU on that triggers the trap. The former seems more likely.

The see invis mobs still conned "ready to attack" with IVU on. I didn't encounter one until after I had already been rooted -- and here is the important part -- it seemed to swim almost directly overhead without noticing me while I was rooted. The tunnel widens as it progresses toward the center, so I suspect that if you get in about halfway swimming at the bottom left or bottom right corner of the tunnel, there will be enough distance between you and the mobs (who seem to swim at the top left or right) that at least one of the roaming see-invis mobs will not aggro you. I do not think that IVU had anything to do with it, so don't buy a pot unless you want to experiment.

Ok, so I get unrooted, and one of the see invis mobs aggros from the East, sicks its pet, and begins casting. I managed to swim the rest of the way into the cave before dying near the tower -- probably because he was trying to cast, rather than melee me. Keep doing this until you get in, or you can try to get a rez from on top of the lake into the cave if you die.

Once you're in the cave, the only trick is getting to the ground spawn without being in combat -- otherwise you can't pick it up. Not as difficult as getting the cave in the first place.

My conclusion: For others trying this, see if swimming at the bottom left/right of the cave does indeed get you out of aggro range of at least some of the see invis creatures. You probably have to "luck it" in about halfway from the East entrance in order for this to work, so try to follow the see invis mob's pets, which lag behind a bit. I had around 30 deaths -- it's just going to take a long while. If you find this tactic is useful/not useful, please post back your findings to help others get through this.

I went to fix this problem, and found out someone had ALREADY given it a new spawn location, totally safe from evil raid mobs. Look harder and you'll find it.
