I'm a level 51 warrior, and I'm looking to make some upgrades to my equipment.

You can feel free to look my character profile up and check out what I'm currently sporting.

If you would kindly suggest some equipment that would be a good armor class increase to what I'm currently wearing, and that would likely sell in the 2-3k per piece monetary range, I would be greatly appreciative!

I haven't had much luck finding anything on list-sold. I was considering Deep Metal gear, but other than a few obviously out-dated pieces (my Oggok Plate gloves, for instance) it doesn't seem to be a very big increase in AC to be worth spending the amount of money it costs to buy it. Opinions?

Thanks in advance for your help!

If you plan on staying at level 55 for a while, for AA exp and money to upgrade gear, I would recommend taking a look at Dragov's gear. Granted it is more expensive than most but, if you stay 55 long enough and have the luxury of a box healer you can easily work up some money for many of these pieces.

If you don't plan on staying 55 at all, and want to power through to 65 and the early raid game I would recommend the Deepmetal armor. It may seem like only a minimal upgrade, but because of it's two aug slots for its pieces, you can stack AC augs on it. This can easily give you an additional 130ac from augs alone (13 pieces of Deepmetal Armor x 2 aug slots each x 5ac per aug) [Assuming you have a 100% complete set]

You could also work on either Dragon or Giant faction armor as well. You would need a group of course, but it's entirely feasible to accomplish at least the first stage of quests. You would need to choose a faction, and begin getting some positive hits with them. Then go to Dragon Necropolis rat city (I think this would be easiest for your level, and a group on par with you) to hunt for Aged Runic Armor.

I would consider getting some one handed weapons, just because Warrior's (normally) can not keep aggro with 2h weapons at all. That being said though, if you are just duoing with a boxed healer its not awful. If you would like a slightly better (ratio wise) I would look into your Starfall weapon quest

Obsidian Razor = http://wiki.shardsofdalaya.com/index.php/Warrior_Starfall_Obsidian_Razor_quest

Your class Thurgadin mask would also be an upgrade to the Mithril one you currently wear, and the Thurgadin weapon would be a step in the right direction as far as aggro generating 1h weapons go.

If you would like a reference for more Aggro weapons for warriors, take a look at the listing below. It gives a break down of weapons that can be attained at various level brackets.

Hope this helps at least a little.

Jolly, thank you very much for the information!

I hadn't factored in slots on the DM Armor, so I'll consider that more closely now. Though, I do plan to spend some time at 55 for adepts, gearing up, and AAs (I've been consulting with some higher level tanks, and it's been suggested that I get Run 3 points, Combat Agility 12 points, and Lightening Reflexes 15 points).

As far as faction gear questing goes, can you do Dragon Necropolis even if you want to make positive Scale Faction?

I'm currently working on my Thurgadin pieces and RHLS, just going to need help to get some of the pieces, and have been keeping an eye out for good one handers.

I don't have the computer power to effectively box, so I've been using the 2hs since a lower level mostly for solo damage (my 1h skills are caught up, I exp locked periodically to max them on light blues).

Thanks again!

Just wanted to say good job all on helping the OP out as all the information you gave him was great.

Making a tank in SoD is pretty dam hard compared to other classes.

looked around and couldn't find an answer, so i'll ask here.. why do some people stay at 55 for a million aas?

the only thing i could find was a page on the wiki suggesting it's the optimal level to farm cash and xp in lasanth.. anything else?

adepts, mainly. There's Nalia the Psychic, who has a max level to engage of 55. There is also Traekoth and Pounders with max engage 57, but obviously a 55 can participate on those raids as well.

There have always been Traek alts, the whole 55 thing is relatively new and it started before Nalia even came into being -- basically people figured out they couldn't hang with the raid scene, so they decided to make uber twinks and be the big fish in the little pool, and from there found out wow Lasanth is a terrific zone for grinding AAs at 55...I'm going to stay 55 forever and link my uber fomelo/uber loot/uberness whereever and whenver possible

then Nalia was created and Frodo lost the Ring

Why suck when you can be (near) godly? :)
And I have two 65s also I play occasionally if I really have to. :)

Also,why stay at 65 FOREVER? :)

Thanks for the great recommendations guys, I had a lucky night last night actually. Had a +15 taunt mask drop, as well as proc whip - both from Lasanth and got to level 55. I picked up Tentacle Gripper on listsold, along with a Goblin Golem Band.

I still have a lot of slots to fill, but I have some idea the direction I can go in now.

Currently there seem to be Prideful Gauntlets (3.5k) and Colossus Grips (8k) .. is it worth it to try to save up the 8k for the Colossus Grips? Can't seem to find those on the wiki... hm.

Another thing, I learned about Auxiliary tanking at a Treakoth Adept attempt last night.. I'm a first time tank, and basically the uber-geared 57s treated me like I was the scum of the earth for not knowing about the details of that.. so is there a good guide you guys could recommend for all those more in-depth features of various tanking jobs?

There was nothing about it on the Warrior page of the wiki, so I'm not sure other than if I'd had some experience with higher raiding on EQ classic how I was supposed to have intuited these things lol... my raiding experience is from EQOA and that game was quite a bit different.

Whenever you have downtime, do some multitasking and sift though the Tome of Knowledge and SoD Discussion subforums --- you can find a lot of info there about things you didn't even know existed!

Also, good job breaking 1k AC, now try and break 3k HP and you'll be over a hump so to speak

thats really sad

Auxiliary tanking ? Never heard that term in 10 years EQ/SoD.
Probably they mean "rampage" tank, meaning some (not only raid) mobs occasionally hit the
number 2 person on their hatelist so a 2nd tank aims to be the number 2 on the hate list to
eat this special attacks and not your only Cleric.
I think minos in Lasanth do it for example if you want to test it. :)

http://wiki.shardsofdalaya.com/index.php/Auxiliary_Tanking

that's what the 'you are now deflecting %T's damage' message is all about.

Is there a way I can link that up to the main Warrior page? I do modify wiki as I can - have added parts of the Wizard Froglok quest, and the new Cleric/Shaman piece you can quest for in Sadri as well... but I'm not sure about how I would go about that.. so if anyone knows? If Warriors are going to be expected to do these things, it's nice to have everything in one spot so new ones can see it coming and be prepared :)

If a higher level tank would like to adopt me? I'm a nice girl!

I've been asking higher level warriors questions as I go - tricks for handling multiple targets, and things like that.. but I would love to have a specific and competent person to discuss the ins and outs of being a Warrior with. I'm really enjoying this class, and I truly don't want to be the bad kind of "noob"...especially not for something as simple as not having an important piece of information.

@ Ulandz I did know about Rampage tanking, at least, because I'd been to DHK on my Bard a few times and heard people talking about it in Raid chat. But yea, auxiliary is the /shield thing - and prior to last night I had no idea about that at all, which made me feel fairly stupid and moderately annoyed - would have been a useful piece of information to know about.

@ phroggonalog I have perused the Tome of Knowledge section, but I don't recall seeing any information particularly about tanking. A ton of great information in general though, I spent a lot of time on the forums before I joined SoD, because I'm the researching type.

I wonder...because this is so different in many regards compared to EQ classic, would a warrior guide from that game still be applicable to tanking in this game?

Again, thank you guys for all of your help!

Auxiliary tanking is not using /shield.

Auxiliary tanking can be done by anyone standing in front of a mob and trying to hit it in the face. After a while, the message 'You are now deflecting some of the damage blah blah' will show up, and that means that you are auxiliary tanking (AKA aux tanking, or "auxing"). Aux tanking causes a mitigation of the melee damage the mob does, and having more people aux tanking will increase the benefit.

There's a lot more you can learn about it if you just try to learn. Intermediate techniques would be learning who you need to aux certain mobs. Advanced techniques would be rogue aux jousting. Just play with it.

Where does this Hysteria primary that all you guys seem to have come from? It is pretty fat.
