During the current med or not to med discussion I had a fun idea. Wands!
1. A person could conserve mana by useing the wand and still contribute.
2. Another useful tradeskill.
3. More cool loot.
4. Easy way to introduce balances to classes along the way.
Wand Creation
It could be a new tradeskill! Mages and Wizards could have a bonus modifier to making them. There could be class specific wand types only useable by certain classes that will compliment their spells. Like a Necro life steal or Wiz fireball wand. Of course with limited charges.
Or...
It can be a class spell. For instance druids can summon once a day a limited charges root wand that other classes can buy from them.
Or...
They can be a drop from mobs with new never seen abilities
