We hit 300 people yesterday guys, I can't believe I'm the first to post on this ! seriously the step was made so fast , congratz to all the WR staff for their hard work. There are still some bugs here and there but considering the sudden growth of population and all new features since the beginning of this year it's just awesome... Let's celebrate ! Gratz all and ROAAAAAAAAAR
 
I am personaly responsible for at least 3 new player yesterday.
I got my nephew to play and he then had 2 more friends load WR yesterday.

It's been said many times by both me and Melwin, but a year ago or so, 150 was a pipedream. It's great to see the server has grown to 300, and in such a short amount of time.

We hit 200 server population on May 1st. Come June 1st, we're at 300.

Congrats Wiz.

I think its just great that server population continues to grow especially considering since WoW (World of Wankers :finger: ) has come out EQLive, Dark Age of camelot and countless other games had seen population drop by well over half. Its just great too see that this already great community continues to grow.

I bet 100pp that WR hits 400 by the end of june. Any takers? :D :D
 
Heh, lets up the server can hold up to 400+ player's, If not then... we will have to donate alot to help the server upgrade and stuff like that i'll be donating shortly. :brow:

you know the really crazy thing? This free server has more players than shadowbane p2p servers, lol.

People should be donating anyway if they like playing on the server. Not just when they think "Oh no, the server will come down if we don't!" $5 a month? Hell I spend more than that on lunch every day. :p That's like 2 beers at the bar (not including tip), one McDonald's meal, less than a 6 pack of decent beer, less than a pack of rubbers (unless you're buying those little packs...come on man...stop that), less than buying coffee for a week at work...

So the rest of you who haven't...DONATE!

There. I hopefully have fulfilled my guilt quota. :)

I have defintely decided to donate my $10 a month to the cause. I do hope other will follow suit.

This is an amazing game and I can't even begin to guess how many man hours went into this game. It is very well done with A LOT of content and quests and all sorts of other things.

I would like to ask one more thing about the coding though. What language is the code written in? C? C++? Java? Or a custom language? Given by all your work I probably wouldn't be surprised if you haven't developed your own programming language

Question: Would enough donations eventually lead to a server with a faster connection to europe? My ping is sometimes like 2 seconds...

That sounds like a problem on your end. Wiz and I both live in Europe and get excellent pings to WR.
 
oh- does that mean the server is located in europe also?

It might have been the big amount of people in newport last night - but even when it's not crowded I get pings around 700ms - which can be a bit dangerous when kiting. My connection is a fast DSL one, and I can ping most main nodes with less than 100ms all over europe.

I will monitor this for a while and do a traceroute, then see where most of the time loss happens, if it keeps being that bad.

Server is located in Austin, Texas if I recall correctly, but Wiz and I still get great pings.
