Hey.. I was just wondering how many people actually use Ventrilo or Teamspeak while playing at SoD... I've been to Rogean's Ventrilo server a couple of times but it's usually pretty empty....
My friends and I use a personal Vent server... trying to talk my guild into getting into voicecomm... The one with my friends and I is usually pretty lonely... maybe I should take a hint
I have spend the last several years(EQ live and WoW) in TS and then Ventrilo with my guilds and would have to really think about it before joining a guild that does not use a form of voice communication.
Voice chat allows for much quicker communication and better coordination between pullers/tanks and healers/CC and the raid leader.
Voice chat also a great social tool when not raiding for a guild.
I use Ventrilo all the time, with a select group of friends/former guildies. Once used for raids, but now mostly to B.S. I go there to laugh at my friends and swoon at the foreign accents.
It seems to me there are a number of different Ventrilo servers in action between all the guilds/friends on the server. While it would be interesting (and perhaps cheaper) to compile them all for fun, I doubt every group would support doing so, for a number of reasons.
Our guild uses TeamSpeak ... and that's because I can run it on our server as a service, convenient if I need to reboot in the middle of the night, auto-startup.
As curious as I am about them, I prefer having the option to "ignore" chat when someone is being annoying. Pluse with Teamspeak or Ventrillo everyone would be able to hear how much I yell at my hubby!
