Vanity art for forums (Or possibly ingame)?

Slaariel's stickied post got me thinking about doing some artwork for SoD, as a method of sharpening my skills and giving me a kick in the ass in terms of motivation, and the finality of a deadline. Unfortunately, my style isn't what Slaar had in mind, but I remember Waldoff jokingly saying that he would steal my stuff because the copyright license on my portfolio website wasn't updated yet.

But in anycase, I'm just throwing ideas out, and hat in the ring, so to speak. If anyone wants a "Vanity" art piece for their forum sig, I'll be happy to contribute. (I'm doing it for free, because I'm not sure what limits the Devs of SoD and the forums have placed on doing things in tandem between in-game and R/L.

Oh, and a suggestion as well. Instead of a blank space, or some text in the "box" when other people inspect someone - possibly replacing those with pictures that the owners of the character can upload?

I'm pretty sure you can charge in game platinum for sigs, I remember seeing someone (Ashleigh?) offering the same a while ago. Jadelia and some other ppl (Gregar lol) have her sigs.
 
I think ashleigh did some awhile back as well, however you are correct that Gregar and Jade are not using her sigs. I'm pretty sure that there are no remaining ashleigh sigs, but I do recall her making some. IIRC she had even made Wiz one way back when he was still hanging around these parts.
 
I think most of the Ashleigh sigs were changed a couple years ago when there were monthly sig themes.

I do love my Vivira sig, though. Not just anyone can make a good sig from the request "I need a picture of my character suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome from tradeskills".

That is hilarious - I can not believe I never got it before.
 
Ok, there seems to be enough interest in this. I'll probably start with my own, to get the ball rolling.

If you want me to try yours and your characters - either post screenshots of them here, or send to me via pm/mail, with a short description of what you're looking for. Perfect example would be Tarutao's brief and Vivira's sig.

The reason for shots is that I can work off them with some cursory glances, to know the colour of the robe you're wearing, the patterns, etc. So that your in-game avatar matches that of your sig. Unless you get a chest piece equipment upgrade :).

Anyway, I'll post mine within a few days. But for now, sleepy time. It's 2:10am in Hong Kong atm. So off I go.

Looking forward to seeing any requests, if there will be any.
 
Well, after a couple of hours, I whipped this up. Not too happy with it - but then again, I haven't done characters paintings in photoshop for a looong time now. But anyway, hopefully this will get me into shape.

But then again, it's almost 5am where I am. So my tiredness could be a factor as to the suckage.

So, if anyone wants me to do theirs, contact me as above, or send me tells on "Exunomei" and/or "Shanvahac" (As if that wasn't obvious already).

Not to steal your thunder, but its too huge. As stated here, no signature may be larger then 200 pixles in height.

First of which is that all visuals you ever see in the game are stored clientside--any images any individual person wanted to display would have to be downloaded by absolutely everyone else in order for them to see it in-game. Second is that it probably wouldn't be feasible to create such a display in the first place; at best it would require a special UI modification which, again, everyone would need to use (and which I suspect would have its own issues as far as displaying a certain image based on who is being inspected by your client).

Bummer - oh well. I was thinking about how Counter Strike / Half Life does it (Spray paint images). But then again, I'm not a programmer. Would've been good if it could be implemented.

Anyway, I've done two signatures so far - the first person wanted it for his EQLive character, and wants to keep that and his EQEmu persona separate. The 2nd person's sig is Nwaij's, which you can probably see around the forums now, and is as follows:

Fun fun, I love the style, you should definitely pursue your dreams in artistry.

If you're feeling creative, I've got a challenge for you. I'd like a female halfling paladin (red BP, 1h gold trident, red crested helm and four quarted red on silver kite shield) next to a male human druid (white hair, clean shaven, green leather tunic, glowing red offhand and a gnarled orange/yellow staff) sitting on a blue/grey/green frog [ala Murk druid pet]). Background/any extras up to you.
