Uses for spell: Descending Judgement? (Pally refuge)

Trying to come up with uses for it to be worth even 1.3k. It is a targeted aoe (green gem) that does 300 damage and stuns for 1s.

Am I missing something here? Maybe it has a super big radius and you cast it on a group of mobs for initial aoe aggro? Maybe to interrupt a group of casters ... I just don't see the idea behind this. Even if I had murk spell on and was in heal mode, that is -99% aggro and it's not a massive nuke, so it's not useful in that situation where I might not be near the mobs. Which is still unlikely since I'd be meleeing to dps :/ if I want to stun a bunch of mobs, I pbaoe stun! (which does 8 sec stun and 200 base damage)

Not meant to be a rage inducing omg you suck blah anything I just seriously want some suggestions as to when it would come in handy to justify getting it.dit

Edit: Not sure what 'AE duration: 7500' means but this might be the key to it's usefulness

It mana drains the pally, if you use it on one target though. ie The rain hits you. Its pretty nice over all with that restriction in mind.

It's an amazing spell. Probably your best aggro spell if you have the mana to use it.
Very useful for larger single mobs too, you can stand out of the rain and still tank without hitting yourself.

Also if you have 2 mobs in range it will never hit you.

You were probably thinking of the old murk spell that was just a targeted AE stun. Which was pretty much redundant if you had the refuge spell.

I'm pretty sure the AE duration 7500 = 3 tick rain.

Wow so I thought you should hear from a pally, it's horrid I never use it.
Mana cost is 2 high for hitting only 2 targets, cast is long enough by the time the second wave hits 90% of the time one or most of the mobs are already dead so your hitting yourself.

I would save your money, and save it for something more useful.

I love this spell, and use it often. It is best used in raids where mana isn't as big of an issue but that doesn't mean it has no place in exp groups, you just can't use it every pull and expect to maintain mana efficiency. When you do use it, you won't lose aggro on the two mobs it is hitting (it is good damage too).

Edit: to Uzzdaar's (Blubuds) point --

this is not an issue unless you are completely misusing the spell. It takes 1 second to cast and 18 seconds for the rain to run its course. If you are fighting mobs that die in less than 20 seconds then the spell isn't necessary as the mobs you are fighting are probably super weak anyways.

As far as mana cost, it does require a lot, but you also get a lot for each mana point. You get 3.53 DPM (damage per mana) compared to the SK Runic 1 spear of 4.167 DPM but it also has a stun component for each wave -- generating much more aggro.

At first when I got this spell, I thought it was horrible. Then I realized that on 2 pulls if I use this, ST blind and AOE blind I can actually avoid using crusader while doing more dps and holding aggro easier. As Bango said, it's not an every pull spell, but it defiantly has it uses for duoing, as well as grouping and some raids too!

I added a note to the wiki for future pallys who may be confused by the point of a rain for a tank that as long as two targets are in range it will not hit you. I think that's pretty neat, basically before I thought it was either a green gem aoe or a normal rain where you cannot be near the mob.

Any spell that helps me keep aggro is a bonus, I can think of plenty of times to use this now it's time to juggle my spell gems to accomodate. Really not very bad damage either since it does like 400ish damage for me.

Cheers for clearing it up as I just wouldn't have bought it... Now make all rains exclude the caster! Melee mages!
