username/password problems

I am having problems with a bad username and login. Let me go through the steps of what I have done and maybe someone can help me.

from the guide:
EQ Account Creation
1. Go here and sign up for an EQemulator forum account.

ok I did that

2. Log into your account and click the profile link.

ok

3. Write down your "Login server activation key"

ok

4. Go here to create a Login server account (not to be confused with the forum account you just created) and use the activation key you wrote down. You can create a total of 3 accounts.

Ok, it made the account and said to have fun.

Preparing
1. Install Everquest®
2. Install Everquest: Ruins of Kunark™
3. Install Everquest: Scars of Velious™
4. Install Everquest: Shadows of Luclin™

ok did all of that.

5. If you have them available, install the later expansion.

Don't have them so no installation was necessary.

6. Run Everquest and let the patcher do its thing.

Ok I ran it and it updated a whack-load of files.

Setup
1. Download the Winter's Roar patcher program here.

Ok I downloaded this program but did not install it at this point, since it doesn't say to.

2. Download the Winter's Roar hotfix here, and install it into your Everquest folder.

Ok I have downloaded it and extracted it into my Everquest folder.

3. Familiarize yourself with the rules by reading them here, this step is vital and contains information you cannot skip.

I have read all of the rules.

4. Run the Winter's Roar patcher program, and direct it to your Everquest folder. Let it download the required files and then click run.

Ok, I extracted this to a directory on my hard drive and ran the PatchWR.exe file. It took me through a short wizard and I specified the Everquest location and that I wasn't playing in windows mode. It updated a bunch of files and then I clicked run.

Everquest loaded up but I could not move the mouse. I then closed Everquest and ran PatchWR.exe again. It checked for updated but no updates this time. So I clicked run again and this time the mouse was fine.

5. Login with the EQemulator account you created in step A4, and create a character.

Ok I used the EQemulator account that I created with the help of that key in the profile and I put the password in and it gives me the bad username and password error.

Can anyone help me?

Sounds like a bad eqhost.txt file. If this is wrong the the WR patcher might not have worked correctly. If you see sony something in it then you know it is a problem with getting the reverted files in the EQ folder.

Also you could just have someone test the account to make sure it is not just a problem with the account registering.

It's the login server's fault, is the conclusion I've gotten to. Maybe the login server isn't updating again (has happend before). If that's the case, I guess we have to make Melwin/Wiz spread the word to the devs and then they should be able to fix it. But until this is done, you're pretty much just out of luck.

Somewhere between EQemu and WR

Just to test it out, I created a new account at EQemu. I can't log in under the new name, but my other account runs just peachy. I really hope this can get fixxed soon, because I've talked three people into playing on this server. They're getting frustrated though, since they can't get their accounts to work properly. These are people I really enjoy roleplaying with, so if there's anything anyone can do to help them get active, or anything I can do to facilitate that, please let me know.

I tried again about 30 mins after my last attempt and everything worked fine! I guess it was just a lag between when I registered and when it actually allowed me to login!

I am having the same problem. Does anyone know the timeframe, from when an account is create/accepted to actually being able to login? I created my account about 2 hours ago and still no luck.
