Unable to Patch

I have been playing for about a year and all of a sudden cannot connect to the SoD patcher. I searched around in Tech support and tried a few solutions and nothing worked. For example, I attempted deleting

eqclient.ini
eqgame.exe
eqgfx_dx8.dll,
eqgraphicsdx9.dll
eqmain.dll

And repatching, and nothing happened. I also attempted reinstalling the SoD patcher, again no luck. I also attempted to "Repatch All" before and after deleting the above files.

What happens is that I click "Patch and Run", the patcher says "Getting patch list" and nothing else happens.

Lol you better restore those files or you'll never be able to log into SoD.
 
Erh, how did you restore those files, if you can't use patcher?

Also those files have nothing to do with patcher, at all.
 
Yup...that was my post and that was a possible fix posted by The Company themselves. The end result is if you don't have at least Titanium for new players then it wont work regardless of how much you try. My copy of The Game is from 1999...heh..gotta wait for payday to get Titanium. I apologize if this did not help anyone.

Also...when updating those files that are necessary are downloaded and replaced during updating.
 
Ok, I went out and bought a brand new version of Platinum, uninstalled all references to EQ or SoD from my computer, installed the new Platinum, then followed all of the steps on the SoD install site, and it STILL WILL NOT PATCH!!! :what:

Any advice?
 
The patcher just uses port 80, so because you can see this web page we can rule that out. I'd think it is more likely the result of some virus scanner preventing the patcher from scanning some of the files in the SoD directory or something...

I'm working on a new patcher on and off, let me see what exactly the patcher is doing when it says "Getting patch list".
 
All the patcher does is display "getting patch list", the "patch and run" button turns into a cancel button, "advanced" is greyed out. No blue bars appear or anything like that. Let me know if you need any more information/help.
 
Hmm... not good, all the patcher is doing at this point is downloading http://www.shardsofdalaya.com/patcher/files.txt and creating an array of all of the files in the official SoD distro to compare with the files you've got in your directory. See if you can download this file using your browser.

Also, you don't have a proxy server configured allowing you to get out to the net or anything do you?
 
Open patchset.txt and post the contents, please.

I suspect using certain characters in the path to the directory you installed SoD in could cause the patcher to attempt to download the patch files from an invalid location (hi localized copies of windows).
 
Wow, you're a genius!

I had been screwing around with proxies about the time I started being unable to connect, turns out, I had inadvertently set my IE to work with a proxy and that screwed everything up!

Everything's working fine now, thanks!!! :dance:
