Unable to connect to the server

I was able to play last night, but this afternoon I cannot connect to the server or the web site. I am on a laptop atm and not my usual desktop. I can access everything fine from here. Any suggestions/ideas?
 
I will be a bit more desciptive
I am running win xp
3gb ram
1.8 gb processor

I can connect to the internet google, gmai, work related websites, but I cannot access www.shardsofdalaya.com or any of the affiliated sites from that machine. When I try and connect to the server I get the pop up message please make sure you can access www.shardsofdalaya.com and try again.

I have tried turning off the my fire wall
I have made sure it is considered a trusted site
I have cleared cookies and temp files
I have made sure my anti virus trusts the web site

I am now clueless as to what the problem could be. I would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.
 
Does SoD use software as some schools do that do not allow you to connect if you have a virus until it has been removed and someone lifts the ban, becuase my antivirus found and removed a potential virus yesterday and wonde if that could be the problem.
 
No it doesn't. Did you hard code an IP address in your hosts file when we were having DNS problems by chance? What is nslookup returning for www.shardsofdalaya.com?

Can you connect to http://72.55.164.201 in your browser? If so, it's a DNS problem.
 
I don't know why I hadn't though if that yet. Indeed it was the issue, added shards to the host file and everything is golden now. THANKS A LOT!
