Twist on Tradeskills?

I thought I had while at work. This might not even be possible. But I'll mention it because I think it might be a neat thing to consider.

I was thinking the following:

Tradeskillers work hard to get to max skill. So they can make good stuff and profit from it. But once they are at the top then they are stuck..making the same old thing over and over again. With plat being the only reward for a boring skill (dramatic enough? hehe). Is it possible to give a tradeskiller (only applicable to max skill people) a small chance to produce an "exquisite" item? For example...... Your fellow smith just combines a DM BP  Whats this? You get an emote that "Your finely honed skills grace you with an exquisite example of your craft!" or something like that. This would give a random chance to give the item a random bonus. Something like Damage reduction +3, Spell Ward 3%, Parry, Dodge, FT 1 for caster items, +4 to backstab, alteration, ac, hp, mana, anything like that. Make it interesting. Basically a SMALL random bonus.

This shouldn't unbalance anything. Since the chance would be very small for this to happen.....there wouldn't be a whole new market out there placing these new items 1 tier above regular smithed items. They would be out there...but rare.

Thanks for looking.

I don't do any tradeskills myself...Just a thought I had.

Too much work for very little return. Also very hard to balance.

+FT1
+2 DMG REDUCTION
+Valiance I
and so on. Small upgrade

isnt really unbalance.

But if that too much work.. nvm... still good idea.

Too much work....I figured it might be. But I'm not good at coding..so I had no clue if it would of been super easy or hard. Would of been neat to see something along those lines though. Not necessarily FT1 etc etc. Could be lower type bonus. I just thought the random perks would of spiced it up a bit.

2 DR on a piece of deepmteal.....say i throw down for a full set all like that, suddnely i've got like 20 dmg redux....

about that...

If this idea is whittled down to stats (no FT etc) could it simply be tied into the Pristine Item system? You would have a 5% chance or something of creating a Pristine item, but one that could be traded and retain the Pristine stats.

|| I assume this was discussed prior to the pristine addition to SoD. I would just like to see if this is at all an option. Maybe encouraging the use of tradeskills?

So the crafter has improved stats that anyone who buys it does not? ||

added from a thread i started myself without realizing.

1) All droppable and equippable items (yes this includes tradeskill crafted gear), when equipped, become NO DROP.
2) Any droppable and equippable item that is looted from a NPC (no tradeskill items are not looted from npcs) is PRISTINE. A PRISTINE item gains a moderate bonus in AC, hp, mana, stats and resists (10-20% probably). The item remains PRISTINE only as long as it is not placed into the inventory of a different player from who looted it. At that point, it becomes a normal item (it doesn't become NO DROP unless equipped as above).

Entry post from this thread. I didn't follow all 15 pages super close but AFAIK it's still the status quo and no change is intended.
