hello all, its my first time back since WR went down. when the game went down, i assumed that sony would keep it down for good, so i uninstalled EQ. recently i heard that it came back, so i decided to reinstall and start playing again. i loaded up EQ trilogy fine, but when i try to patch it i get this in the window:

You are clicking advanced when you are running the patcher to Live and checking the appropriate expansions, correct?

And are you running through any type of firewall, router?

hey dunno if this has ne thing to do with it..i have wireless internet on a linksys router...my firewall is being used but i bypassed it to play eq on it...ne more suggestions?

Doing some research now, but appears that this error occurred with Live. Unfortunately, sites have been changed around so much that finding valid links is hard to do.

Well im not even on the other eq patcher this is the patcher that is used when u first download the game...ive downloaded it b4..so i dunno ive like triple checked my firewall settings and shit.

From what I can gather (stoopid proxy server blocked most forums) this is probably due to a corrupted install. I would suggest uninstalling and reinstalling (if you downloaded the trilogy, may want to redownload if next go doesn't work). There used to be a patch from "the company" but all efforts to find a new link for it have failed (The post is dated from march of 2004 and references a new patcher). Some quotes from the thread I am basing this on:

delete everquest and re-install, i got this error befor and it was a currupt install

I have this problem with my first Everquest disc that I purchased a couple of years ago, I had to buy a newer version to get it to install, at first I thought it was Winbloze XtraPee and tried it on a two kay machine with the same results. So it may be partially one, or half of the other, try the re-install, if it doesn't work, ensure the disc surface is clean and free of finger prints (yes this will cause it as well), and try it one more time, if that doesn't work, buy a newer copy of EQ.

I had this error a bit ago.

I have multiple copies of my everquest folder, so I tried replacing the everquest and eqgame.exe from another folder....

And that worked, didn't need to reinstall the whole thing.

Your milage may vary but hopefully it works for you.

Hope it helps.

Sorry your solutions didn't work for me...I did though update my patcher..The patcher is old and doesn't work ne more. So if u have problems go to this page and click download. Extract the file to ur Eq Triogy folder located at c:/ Program files :/sony then let it extract..open up ur eq folder and click everquest...the icon should look more 3d and newer. Then your set!

Sorry your solutions for me didn't work. I found this though, the patcher is old and doesnt work anymore. So go to this website and download the new one. Extract the files to your Eq Trilogy folder located at c:/Programfiles:/sony:/everquesttrilogy:/ Then when done extracting open up folder and find your everquest icon in there to be different than before. That means it works then create shortcut to desktop if you want and have fun. :p

hehe, that is the link I was looking for but no couldn't turn up :)

All the sites I found that mentioned that were dead links to it.

For the love of God, please use the url tag for long links like that. Breaking the tables is not cool.
