SoD is different due to the fact accounts are free. So 0 In game work and 0 financial burden.

Everyone has access to t8 retired buff bots and ringer tanks...would be a different story if someone had to pay 15bucks per to keep those accounts active.

Elegant solution. Everyone may have access to these toons...but I doubt many people has access to the Email account used to create these accounts. Send out a mass email to the -original- email account used to create such toons asking if they still play SoD and want their toon active.

A lot of bots / ringers would vanish I think

To address the tank problem specifically without targeting ringers would be to fix tanks at the grouping/xp stage of the game.
The game is better with more tanks, more capable tanks. And currently Deepmetal/Tmap loot outside of VD and above is pure garbage. Could up the cap on damage reduction, add some more damage reduction to lower lvl tank gear to quickly fix tanks at the group level without affecting the raid game too much. Damage Reduction is a badass stat for lower tier and grouping tanks, and is borderline useless against raid targets. Making the cap 35 or 40 and giving fresh 65 tanks access to it would allow a lot more people to play tanks and give more people tanks to group with.

No, everyone does not. I've done like four mostly pickup groups in the past few days and I had to load the majority of the buffbots because almost nobody else had any, and I had to tank because nobody had info for a real tank. And these were people in mid/upper tier raiding guilds, there's no way in hell lower tier people do unless they're real life friends with a retired player or something.
