Trivial Loot Code for Hill Giants

all the people complaining about higher levels coming killing the giants for cash, will be the farmers later in life!!!!

please don't sit there and tell us that once you are high level that you will not be out farming for cash. Eveyone at one point or another will farm cash and or items.

Siquros.... i know of at least 3 other zones that pay out better then the HGs do, and nope i'm not about to tell :lol:

Farming cash and or items is a fact of EQ/WR, In my opinion Wiz has done a nice balance of this by creating lots of no drop loot, and creating areas that at level 65 you can get exp and great cash. For that matter from about mid levels up there is lots of nice spots for this.

Farbauti question why are you there? there is lots of great exp zones around that people don't even go in. I guess your there for the cash to, but don't like to share.

I farmed the Hgs from time to time, and if a lower level or group came in I would see how they did to how many Hgs they could take, if they were doing well then i left.

Melwin says it isn't the best source at level 65, and I'll sure be looking for better options once they become available to my level. Frankly I would be happy if the HG farming option wasn't available to me when they become trivial.

I'm all for leaving lowbie content to the lowbies.

Sure I do, I was sharing with a level 46 shaman earlier today. I just don't like to share with some level 65 necro (*cough*) or mage that rapes the zone for 6 hour stretches, then hands off the camp to their guildie friends.

FYI You weren't even playing WR when i went into the HG's. I have not been in there in like forever, Get your facts/names right.

I like the idea of the enraged hill giant...so, I could solo it :)

And poor Kindar: one day he's accused of soloing raid mobs, the next he's accused of monopolizing green spawns. <3 Kindar
 
I refuse to kill greens for money. You can easily kill dark blues, and get xp and money, weapon drops for vendors selling, and the odd vendor/auction loot. Killing what 6 giants and getting 50pp and then wait for 20-30 minutes for respawn? Ok, or you can find a dungeon and kill dark blues, get some decent xp (usually dungeons have better xp zones than outside, not to mention loot), and some drops, and money, and you don't have to sit and wait for things to respawn.

Why kill greenies if you end up with both exp and far more money in other places? :?

It's easy. You don't have to worry about dying. You can do it alone. You don't need to worry about competition because they're all 20+ levels lower than you. Who cares if you're that asshole stealing everyone's spawns because they're all 20+ levels lower than you and therefore aren't as important as you. You don't even need to pay attention. Just kill 6 giants and go back to watching your movie. 20 minutes later come back and do it again. A dedicated high level will go to a more efficient place to farm cash, but there's always at least one lazy high level who doesn't feel like really playing but still wants to get things done.

So it was you! (and btw ;> I was the one who shared (since I couldn't have handled 'em all by myself anyway xD)) :D I almost dinged after you left.. went LD just after it ;;__;; and the camp was "stolen" by some red PCs *sniffle*

True, maybe there are far more better cash sources for the high lvl players but.. :p Umm, what's the point when people don't seem to know them? Or those are always camped too, too far, too hard, too hard to get to... Just my guesses.. I'm only 46 after all :p I'd like to have a better plat farming place in the future, yeah. HGs aren't my favorites. They are now when I get decent xp and good loot from them.

I would just want to get my hands on some good loot :D pp isn't everything to me.

I honestly don't understand how being a lower level puts you in priority to be killing these things... Arguing you get xp from it and a high lvl doesn't is pretty weak, as the XP you get from HGs is horrible.

I haven't done the HGs since the late 40s, but I was considering going to farm them a bit when I had a bit of spare time. Yes, there are better places to get money at 60+, but those require getting into a group, and I hardly want to join a group only to leave 40 minutes later. Not to mention, sometimes you can't even find one.

Finally, being a dick and whining about high levels trying to get some cash (which I can pretty much guarantee that's what you're trying to do) isn't going to motivate them to let you have the HGs. Ask nice, and I'm sure they wouldn't mind leaving/sharing. (All this is assuming the high level was there first, if he came and stole it, then yeah... That's not playing nice.)

I've yet to find a place I can fight solo that drops more cash and gems than the HGs. If you have a better place you'd like to share, I'm all ears. ;)

He said solo, you can't solo DHK unless your well geared and high AAed. For a group, Dragonhorn is good, but it seens to be a good group. To duo something or solo at Traul's level, Dragonhorn is out of the question. Go with DN or Lab. :)

I fought at Lab and DN a couple lvls ago, but I'll definitely check them again with loot in mind this time. Thanks for the suggestions. :)

Only if you *just* want faster $$ and aren't worried about XP at all. I'd do it to farm cash for a twink, but I'm not there yet on this server. But yah, in general you won't waste your time with non-xp mobs unless you really need the cash.
 
I suggest lvl55+ giants -- Forest Giants in a warsliks style zone that drop appropriate loot for higher lvls rather than HGs or IGs (loot code is needed). Im not high enough lable to really farm either, so it doesnt concern me. I am offering a suggestion though.
 
LOL Hill Giants=Aqua Goblins. We saw what happened with the AGs on live. Maybe the same thing needs to happen here.

Where greens are being farmed, that's where the nerfbat needs to be swung.

It isn't about xp. If they kill mobs for xp at that level, it usually means finding a group or a raid and even then it takes time and the loot has to be divided up among the others in the group or raid. On a kill time basis, they can kill far more hill giants and gather far more loot in a given space of time than they can acquire from xp kills.

It was the same situation on live with guys in their 40s and 50s monopolizing the aqua goblin camps in Butcherblock for hours on end. Sure, they could have been xping on mobs with bigger loot drops, but why should they when they kill a bunch of greens in a few seconds and gather more money per hour that way?
 
I don't farm greens for cash often, but I've done it when the well runs dry. Here's my perspective.

I can't DC. I solo. No other solo spots drop decent cash. Period. As a bard, I can solo Lab, but not very well...and it got harder when wiz changed mez code (mez mitigation = bad idea for bard mezzes...heck they were short anyways and had low level limits). Laby isn't great cash anyways, even if I could solo faster there. Anyways, DN is *sometimes* ok cash, but you run into a summoning dragon (bone/shade) and that finishes the run. And it's not great cash either.

Long story short, there aren't options as well suited to soloing for cash. Not from a bard's point of view. And again, I don't do it often (twice, I think??, for 30 mins each?).

Oh and DHK isn't soloable...by anyone. It's DUOable, for an uber pair. Wait, maybe an enchanter with Dire Charm, but heck, I don't know the current state of that affair and I've never seen it being done.

I would gladly welcome a higher level cash farming spot, even if it were LBs or something. Something outdoors would give me a warm fuzzy feeling :p
