trivial creature penalty

why am i getting -20% trivial creature penalty from killing dark (!) blues? sooner or later i'll end up getting -45% exp in EVERY zone. excuse the strong language, but: WTF IS THIS BULLSHIT?!? am i supposed to kill raid mobs for exp now or what? ;( ;( ;( ;(

I believe this is the AA exp change that was put in a long time ago. Those with high number of AAs have to kill higher level creatures. I think after 300AAs, you would need to kill lvl 55 dark blues in order to get full exp, but don't quote me on that. It's something like that.

that means soloing is not an option for me any more cause mobs of that level summon. i also heard khalid got that penalty while killing stuff in kedge (i thought stuff there had a level of 55 and above). anyway, thanks for ruining soloing for me (i enjoyed it while it was rewarding) and for punishing all the people who worked hard for their aas. only gonna log on to raid and fool around with alts from now on (maybe every now and then a group that ONLY kills level 55+ mobs). seriously, this is BULLSHIT, prolly the worst idea this server ever saw! bye bye soloing, i'll miss those times ;( ;( ;( ;(

This has occured for months and months, I just made it visible now.

59+ mobs summon.

You never get trivial penalty for 56+ mobs.

Stop whining and wallowing in hyperbole, it's not like you were dying from it before the patch and you couldn't see it.

Just wondering, what zones have only lvl 56+ mobs, Kedge Keep was giving a person with 200+ AAs the penalty. Its hard to pick out what mobs are even worth killing. "Oh look he looks like a strong monster, I hope its 55+ so i dont get an XP penalty." Just seems stupid when you cant find out if a mobs going to give you good XP or not.

I'd recommend just not worrying about it and going deep in dungeons. Or bring a bard with jayla's.

alright, i forgot that 55 mobs don't summon any more. you're right. gotta find mobs of the appropriate level though. looks like soloing is still possible (while getting ok exp) if i can find the right mobs. i take that one back.

i DID notice a slow-down in soloing exp, but i just didn't say anything till i had it black-on-white.

still don't like that change, but if i can find 56+ mobs in areas that offer enough room to kite, then it might be half as terrible. i'll just miss dn, sigh. i loved that zone.

When did you notice this slowdown because the change went in months ago.

I think you're bullshitting. No offense.

i'm not bullshitting i was AWOL for months. how could i have noticed when i wasn't playing?

the thread rabb linked says:
Aquiring a large number of AA will now make certain mobs give less-than-optimal experience as the risk and challenge of fighting them dwindles. The changes occur at every 50 AA gained post the first 100. Any mob that is below your "challenge" level for your amount of AAs will yield only 80% of its normal experience. Challenge levels are:
* 150 AAs: Level 51.
* 200 AAs: Level 53.
* 250 AAs: Level 55.
* 300 AAs: Level 57.
* 350 AAs: Level 59.
* 400+ AAs: Level 61.

which one of those infos is correct? if the latter is correct then i have a problem again: i can't solo any mob effeciently after a few more pings.

edit: just discovered that the change was there before i went AWOL, i must admit. still thought exp was slower after i returned. maybe i just remembered it to be faster or something.

I'm just curious what the reasoning is behind this feature?

For a commercial game it makes sense to slow down the progress of your customers to keep them around longer grinding out AA's but for this server I just don't get it.If someone can only solo or duo due to time constraints (and enjoys this) this feature along with the Old Area Penalty and the destruction of the lands of magic (with no replacement so far, but I don't doubt there will be) it only creates frustration not enjoyment, it limits your choice of exp spots even more.Don't get me wrong I do somewhat agree with the new area bonus/old area penalty but that combined with this has a "stick with no carrot" feel to it.

This isn't a rant, for one thing I agree with the old area penalty,although not with how fast it happens at the lower levels. I know someone had to take quite a lot of time to code this in and that changes like this aren't made without a reason, I'd like to know that reason.

If anyone thinks I am biased in my perspective towards solo/duo I *always* group (cleric main) unless I'm PL'ing an alt in which case the AA penalty does not apply at all.

Everchill for certain, probably catacombs, and a sizable majority of ToV mobs. Bits of RSM and bits of FG. That's the ones I know off the top of my head.

The reasoning behind this feature is the same reasoning that mobs give less exp the lower level they are compared to you.

I'll remove the message, though, if it's that horrible to see.

Don't remove the message, please. If it's been up for months, just give those of us who didn't know that thing existed some time to get used to it :).
