Melwin, it is a bit much to say that because someone can port to a location 5 years of devolpment, are now rendered useless. (i.e. totally ruined the game) if that were so, any port would detract from the game, WR has Nexus rifts, heck you guys even have PoP zones in. Did that ruin the entire game?
and no, #mana and #ch are not the same. In no way does going somewhere make you invincible or darn near it..

By that logic, if we put in #heal and #mana, it'd be okay because YOU COULD ALWAYS JUST NOT USE IT LOL
I played since 99 up untill the early release of GoD. I remember when you had to hire Guides to get to places you had no idea how to get too. I was a 65 (iksar) monk on live. For those who have been 65 why the heck would you run to Freeport anyway? Not much exp there the only place which had decent exp was PoH and Accursed temple of cazic (which lost its population to zones such as PoV, HoH and BoT).
Of course the idea that porting to all the cities is a "ruin" of the game, would make Kunark a ruin, since you say the ability to port to any city killed the game. In that case ever since the first expansion the game would have been killed. I used those pots in the kunark expansion quite a few times so I could bounce to places like Gfay quick.
Ever since Luclin anyone at least 30+ barely used cities (know where they were bound? Nexus). The ability to port to towns did not "ruin" the game because you didn't have to run through Karanas heck Karanas was barely populated. The only reason I used it was for some fun killing guards in the old world cities.
So exactly how did it ruin the game? Was running through Karanas THAT important to you? I agree its fun exploring new places, but after the 5th time "Exploring" its no longer new.
