Traps

I'm working on my disarm trap skill at the moment. My skill is very low.
I have tried to find places with traps to raise my skill but I only found Highkeep.
When u disarm a trap, it seems you get 1 point up even if you fail (correct me if i'm wrong). That's pretty neat.
But if you fail to disarm a trap, you'll get its effect. Effects of traps in Highkeep are deadly insane. So it's not the best place to raise the skill . The traps obviously disappear when you disarm or trigger it.

I got 8 points trying to disarm traps there and more than 5 deaths. Then i couldn't disarm any trap (I suppose the repop timer is long) because there were none available anymore. So now i'm stuck and can't advance farther. I could try to go to Eldenald and disarm 1 trap and then travel to warrens to disarm 2 or 3 traps, but it takes time to travel etc just for 1 point up. Even the mining skill got more spots for practice.

I'd like to know if it's possible to raise this skill in an other way (like picklock maybe).
At the moment, this skill is maybe the hardest one to increase , due to the lack of traps. I've read some threads about traps already, and most of players don't like traps. So I don't know how you can solve this issue.

Please show me some love here.

Yona, there is a *fairly* ok trap in highpass to practice on, if you can find it. I've tried it but I haven't the patience to keep at it, to be honest. You could also try traps in Kaladim, if you haven't already.

Wait , can u disarm the trap and then try again right after ? Or do you have to wait untill the trap pops again ? Because I've never seen any trap u could try to disarm over and over again.
Thanks for the info ;)

Slight update : Respawn time on High keep traps is more than 4 hours. Could u reduce it a bit ?

The most skillup/time efficient way i've found is switching between Eldenal's and Kaladim A. Eldenal's actually has several traps that spawn randomly and one that has a fixed location. Kaladim A has 2 (as far as I know). You can easily get 3 skillups per spawn timer, probably more for you since you might outrun the corrupted elves to the zone and go for the random ones. Problem is that there are often people hunting/farming in those zones and they almost always trigger the traps. For that reason, I used to prefer the Akhevan ruins.

But yes, it would make sense for rogue guilds to have traps to practice on. Ones that kill you instantly if you walk over them, but do not get triggered if you fail. They could get successively harder and lead to something fun. Like a 'sense traps+5' item without any other stats. Or an npc who tells you some rogue specific lore.

Taffimai, level 42 snack

There is a trap in the water near the one in in kingspass. Just get a mage to summon you a deepshard, didnt know what traps were a while ago and one of my group was drownin from it (it had him underwater) so I nuked it...said trap reflected and I managed to nuke my toon to death lol.

Ok so now it's just impossible to practice disarm trap skill anymore in certain zones because they are bugged (Towers of Agony and Highkeep). I already bug listed it, but it disappeared somehow. I know you guys are busy to fix more important things so we, rogues (and bards), will wait.

However, we really need a new way to practice this skill, because 1) zones with lot of traps are high level so low rogues/bards can't really practice there; 2) as mentioned before , it's increadibly hard to raise the skill because of traps respawn time.

For now , this thread seems to not have gotten the attention of GMs , which means it's not a big deal.

I know disarm trap has no real use for 1-60 level content. But since new lore has been implemented, it's usefull. Well i guess... correct me if I'm wrong :?

PS: Taffimai 's idea sounds good

This problem still exists, i trained up to 80 on sense and disarm traps, but i cant seem to go higher.

And lets say i find one, with a 1 hour respawn time and lets say that i get a skillup every other sense/disarm. That means to get to 250 skill i need to wait 340 hours. That's a lot. Could there be more traps added & maybe higher the chance of a skillup or a faster repop?

Thanks.

Have spent 3-4hours in kaladim today, not a single skillup :(

For my own curious information, how do traps difficulty scale up with the zone's level? Is there a general rule of thumb or not?

Just FYI, there are traps in Shrouded Isle - I've triggered them in the Hedge (or Maze, if you want to call it that). Maybe that's too low a level for you, though, I dunno.

Some trees are also trapped and will spawn blood beetles if you wander close to them. There is also a trap in the Warrens that casts a version of "walking sleep" on you. All these areas are geared for characters level 15-20, so the traps probably have a relatively low trivial.

Im not saying there arent any traps, far from it. Just the amount of time i would have to put in to max skills is way too big to be fun. This is a game after all, not a job.

Perhaps you just arent up to the challenge of being a rogue.

If you are there are traps in Paw too. The bridge has one where a lion will materialize if you trip it. Down way below, by the darklings, is an area with about 3-4 traps that hit very hard for poison.

Don't be a wuss.
Go to HHK and deal with the 10 billion traps there.
If you fail, you die. Go back.

Think of it this way, worst case scenario you fail every time you try and die 250 times on your way to max...

There are three traps I know of in Mielechb, 1/2 hour spawn time. I dont know what spawn is if you dis-arm em but I imagine it would be the same.

Generally not, no.

Its more like trip it and it has a short respawn, successfully disarm, and it doesn't come back for hours and hours.

There are lots of traps in Yaralith where the forgotten spawns are, they root me every time I move to close to the center of the crosses in the patch of circular rooms.
