Tradeskill: Fletcing

Chiifin

Dalayan Beginner
Hi there, I currently have a skill of 180 in fletching. I'd like to say to whomever revamped the tradeskill, great work. It is a lot better buttttt... Rarely, does ANYONE except rangers use arrows.. Shards of Dalaya have many range/ammo items the can be used to right-click to agro mobs, causing bows and arrows to be obsolete nearly. Each time I go to work up my fletching I spend a solid 4k each time. I fill up my trader area as well as my box's. For the last week I have been advertising to sell these quivers cheaper than it costs to make them and not ONE has sold.

Basically, I am just hoping that perhaps we can work something out so that we can be able to sell quivers to merchants, unless this was an unknown problem.. At the moment it costs roughly 250pp to make each 7dmg quiver. I dont care if a merchant only offers 50plat each, because in the past i had to /who all and just start listsending to random people and/or destroying 6k worth of quivers because they just DONT sell.... only people who use bows are rangers and lowbie tanks (20-40's ish).

I know a lot of work has been put into this tradeskill and I dont feel I am asking much, maybe I am but like I said, lets talk and exchange possible ideas to have a different outcome but this just isnt working for me as it is. I dont want to make 3-4 bots just to sell quivers and constantly have to log them on to readd them to the vendor list.

Thanks
-chris

Example: Slibu, Neiv, Abel, Boome.. i just got those in 2minutes of sitting in athica. they all use clickies to pull :\

Absolutely no warriors will buy high quality arrows for pulling. Our tank sometimes uses a bow for certain zones/pulls but I made him a quiver of 3dmg arrows and I'm pretty sure he's still using it.

I wouldn't skill up fletching to make money from it, Fell sells all his quivers for very low cost and there is really no reason to buy from anyone else.

Also tao has told me that basically the cost has been worked out so that the vendor prices you are buying at now include what the quivers would sell back for. So if they were made to be vendor buyable the cost to make them would rise as well.

That is one of the problems I have with fletching, there is nothing to do with all the low damage arrows you end up making. Unlike tailoring/smithing where you can skill up making crappy augs or low quality armor that lowbies will buy, arrows just don't cover as wide a market.

Huh? That doesn't make sense, though. (Not saying it's incorrect but i dont follow) Each item has an ID number in the database. 3 Item ID's combined form one single item ID. How come you can't just set a price from the 3 item Id's different to the combined Item ID? Sure it might be a little more work to have to go in and add an extra price per Item ID but it's doable, no? I could even understand quivers below 5dmg not being sellable to vendors but go through each table of arrows 5dmg+ being marked with a price.

Again, I personally dont care if you get an 1/8th of its value, at least you aren't giving it away or being forced to destroy them :\

Yeah I have frequently boxed our warrior for some raids and I always use a bow to tag, I just get some of the summoned arrows from the vah clicky thing though.

Dont worry about this as a priority actually. I seem to have greater things to worry about now, I am going to have a family ><... so i'll either be taking an extended break or just stop playin all together.. was fun while it lasted, met lots of nice folks here on SoD, including you Driizz. ty for all of yalls help.

Your doing to much thinking on this.. they dont sell back because the implementer didnt want them being sold back NOT because some crazy item ID number in the database doesnt match up with a vendor . Tradeskills are a money sink and to go from 1 - 250 skill in fletching and it will cost you a set amount of platinum to do.

Since you are using the high end arrow heads already i will let you in on a little secret, you can make your own arrow heads for only 1 or 2 gold. If you want to spend time farming components you can cut the cost by 95% (guestimation here)! So its up to you.. take the easy route and buy from the vendor and spend the plat or go out and spend hours farming and save that plat but deal with slower gains.

I will agree there is not much of a market for the quivers but oh well. I use my 7 damage battle arrows that i can make and still land in the top 5 dps spots on raids so im happy.

OK lets say the top quality quiver would vendor for 40p, which is close to 1/8th its value. The way the pricing is balanced currently that 40p is already included in the cost to make the quiver. So if you want the sell back value to actually be tangible the cost of making the quiver would rise by 40p and your net loss from making the quiver would still be the same.

So the way it is now its:

260ish plat to make: 0 sell back

Your way:
300 plat to make: 40 sell back

It still would cost you 260 plat to make. And this is coming straight from Tao, I complained about the EXACT same thing as well. Also I am not doing fletching. You do have a choice.

Oh and what is your character name in game!?

they should make an arrow for warriors that does 0 damage so they can guarantee no damage during pulls.

there are fights in the game where every dps has to do ranged damage. this includes some tanks.
