tome information

adding some sort of hint would really rock for example:
takes about x amounts of aa's to finish. or just make it levels like
exp required: low, medium, high
would rock to have some kind of measure to help decisions on what tomes to go for.

less than 100 AA: "This codex requires you to complete req req req etc. It looks like a fairly light study."

100-200: "This codex requires etc etc. This could take a bit."

200+ "This codex etc etc...Damn, that's a big assed book."

Fomelo shows tome completion percentages to 0.01% accuracy, but doesn't update immediately.

So... here's what you do:

(1) Record tome completion percentage

(2) Set AAs to 0% and make sure you are not in an adventuring band.

(3) Completely disregard what Woldaff said about new/old area penalty things just being a display error, and use the "almost the same" racial adjustments I mentioned on that wiki page.

(4) Turn /log on and say something in /say that will be easy to find with Ctrl+F like "bacon + bacon = good times"

(5) Check your Fomelo and write down your current Tome completion percentage.

(6) Go exp for a while without starting with exp debt and don't die.

(7) Pull up your log file and add up all the "You gain X experience" numbers.

(8) Check your Fomelo and write down your new Tome completion percentage.

(9) Subtract to find the percentage of your tome you completing during that exp session.

(10) Divide the number of experience points by the amount of the tome you completed, written as a decimal (so doing 5.79% of the tome would use the number 0.0579).

(11) Divide as directed on that wiki page based on your characters race.

(12) Divide by 250,000 to get the number of AAs.

(13) Edit the wiki as appropriate.

(14) PM or IRC me your numbers so I can fix your math.

Interesting. The Tome of Flame mastery need to be less then 1/2 the exp of a normal codex of power. Or the argument posted here; http://forum.shardsofdalaya.com/showpost.php?p=198326&postcount=27

"The nerf assists in making alternate paths of power gain a bit more even. 4% codex of power, or 2% to fire damage for significantly less AA's? If you are a rogue probably not, but if you are a magician, that may be a bit tempting." -Cyzaine

Please dont take this as a flame Cyzaine - I think your great. I just want to know if there is any point at all, in getting a none Codex of power, Tome. I have ben arguing this back and forth with guildies and i would like to know.

Personaly i would say it needs to be less then 1/3 of the codex exp as you also use magic damage as well as pet dmg on a mage. But that is up to debate. If it takes more then 1/2 the exp of a codex, then it is compleaty useless for anyone that hasent allready compleated 5 power codex. And that isent really just a matter of opinion.

I wish I had a flame tome or a frost tome and i would test the hell out of this today. Some of you l33t guys please test it =).

As far as i know this was the intention when the new tomes were designed. The tomes of power are always going to provide more bang for your buck as far as % gains per exp are concerned and the Ikisith tomes are there as a useful place to put your exp after you have completed all 5 of them. Check this thread for more discussion on the topic and some official responses

The mastery tomes take ~70 aa's, which is less than half a codex (70% of half even)
