With 50+ people in 1 clipping plane i had constant PL

Maybe next time spread people out more or state only people with good connections come

I felt a little guilty that my team had to replace me

i could hang w/12 people doing a tmap np, but the beginning of event was 2 much for my sub-par connection atm.

Firstly, the event was fantastic! Thanks for organizing it folks (Wiz + helpers!).
I had no connection probs... (but on broadband, I presume you're not...?)
I'm no expert on these things, but perhaps there are some /filter type commands to help with lag in those kind of situations? Any big event/raid is going to have masses of people in small areas... It's to be expected.
 
When you are going to see a large amount of people, making it show only their first names (/shownames 1) helps much more than one would expect - it could very well solve your problem. After you are done you can show everything again with /shownames 4. Hope this helps :)
 
What Aeran said, except that I just have playernames turned off completely. You'd be surprised how much lag that cuts out, and it has the additional advantage of making the world seem more immersive. In fact, after several raids of doing such, I've gotten into the habit of leaving it off all the time! The names seem too distracting now, when I turn them on, and I've gotten to recognize people by what class/race they are and what the're wearing.

yeh my connection was fine when i was hiding over the hill, but when i got by the numbered mage pets my commodore 64 started smoking

supposedly getting an uber connect to my area by may 1st.
 
What you're describing probably isn't a connection problem. It sounds more like a RAM / videocard issue.
 
Sorry for being offtopic, but its a short question.. Is there going to be events like this for lower level people? Not all of us have lvl 65 mains.
 
I had PL issues at first but i hid just over hill and np after that.

And i know it was connection issue, 2 gig ram and a geforce 7800.

But other then that the event was awesome. Loved it.

You should try filtering out things such as emotes from serverside, since that will help A TON. My wireless can't handle being around a lot of people without emotes turned off. (it's /cmd filter for options, by the way)
