Thinking of playing again.. questions

I played here a long time ago, back when it was still WR I think. Considering coming back but I see a lot has changed and I want to see how the pace differs now from Live.

1) Downtime - What's the hp/mana regen like? I understand faster than EQLive but that's not saying much considering I could go afk for 2 hours on live and come back and still not be at full hp/mana with no buffs. I like soloing or 2-boxing and if i'm going to spend half my time sitting on my ass waiting for mana/hp i'd rather just not play. =/

2) Speaking of 2-boxing, how flexible is it here? Meaning say I want to box a shaman and a mage.. or a ranger and a cleric.. or some other combo that's not the cookie-cutter warrior/cleric or shaman. would I eventually hit a wall where it's required to have a tank class to duo efficiently?

3) Is there an exact % to how much faster leveling is here over Live?

4) Is the server still active? Are there even any people left who aren't max level and/or raiding?

Any answer are appreciated. =)
 
Hi, welcome back!

1) Mana and hp regen considerably faster when in so called "meditative trance": it appears 30 seconds after you've finished casting, fighting or are not in combat and you get a message for that.
It's harder to sit and me during actual fight, but mana goes up really fast when not fighting.

2) No, you don't need a tank class to duo effectively. Most classes work well together as long as you have some form of dps or heals available.

3) No exact %, you also gain xp from doing quests and tradeskills and there are so called adventuring bands.

4) Yes and yes.
 
It gets harder towards the top, but I can't really think of a 2box combo that wouldn't be able to duo to 65.

Warrior / warrior would kind of suck.

Not to mention rogue / warrior...
 
Makes me think of the old EQ comics where is shows a Warrioer wraping a Ranger from head to toe in bandages, the enchanter on the side says.

" this is takeing forever.. can't we just find a cleric or something?"
To witch the warrior repleys with a very annoyed look
" I said hes Fine! "

Keeping in mind the only thing of the ranger showing is his eyes and a hand with a bow sticking out of the bandages.

Yeah.. agreed.. thankfuly someone found the comic :toot: All is well again :)

*thought I remebered there being a bow... oh well hes got pointy ears and a green tunic.. must be a ranger :)

What classes are lacking in the end game? Which ones are over-populated?

That type of question is more suited for Classes and Gear. If you use the search funcion you'll even find that the topic has been asked/discussed multiple times recently. :)
