The pool in Mansion of Portals

Just a thought, I've noticed alot of corpses in the pool in the MoP. I also have noticed that even I had issues getting out of the pool with low swimming level. Short characters especially have this problem, even with more midrange swimming level.

Maybe a portal could be installed in the pool, just one that takes you back to the entrance of MoP, as a kindness to the newer players who do not yet realize that they will get stuck, why they got stuck, or how to get unstuck.

Since MoP does not allow you to speak in any chat other than /tells, these new players may not be able to get advice while stuck in this pool, especially since they possibly might not be comfortable enough with anyone yet to send them a /tell.

It is just an idea, feel free to shoot it down/add other suggestions.

You can go around the pool...

Also, one death isn't going to be game-breaking for anyone, but it makes a person learn their lesson.

You would think they would be able to climb out over the stack of dead gnomes.

An ogre of mine died in it once, which should be impossible. Got stuck under the plane of water when he jumped in, though it hits him knee level.

As a troll, I've never had any problem with the pool of water. I think if you are having problems with it that you could re-roll as a troll. Bonus: good looks. Cons: constant itching.

Could always make the pool area an "unstable portal" where if you enter you are sling shot through a random portal.

example: You get into pool and suddenly are in darkwoods.

This would solve the "stuck in water" problem and create a new danger. The only problem i see with this is then comes the "I fell in lava and it should have a portal" problem. Course unstable portal could again be done.

Lore Wise: Could say that due to the place being so unstable other forms of matter that are not solids are unstable, so liquids gather the power of all the portals thus making them into a portal but where you come out is unstable due to the collective energy.

Yes I know this sounds stupid, but an idea is an idea.

^^

I LOVE falling in the lava in MOP, usually happens while two boxing.. I've done it twice, it's harsh annoying.

That being said, I don't think it should be changed. It's not meant to be easy, and you're supposed to pay attention in MOP :D

A gnome with ~100 swimming does not get stuck, just run around it until then if you are too small. Getting stuck once is enough to remember to avoid it. Though I do remember SoE implemented a /rewind command to move stuck people, maybe something like that is possible?

I think you need to stop asking for more convenience and deal with it.

You should be happy they included a travel option beyond simply finding a wiz/dru or getting a gate-neck for every city.

I think he's commenting on the fact that you can't actually ask how to get out (even by way of /cm suicide) while you're in the MoP, short of asking a random player in tells. The simplest solution would be allowing guildchat in the MoP, or adding a clause to the Dalaya's Beginners motd.

Or they just get their training wheels kicked out from underneath them when they die in MOP, same way we did. Sorry, this post is QQ. Life sucks, get a helmet.

Actually gnomes (even noobs) can jump out of the pool just fine. It does take some practice and patience. I fell into it on my wizard and spent 30 mins figuring it out.

Protip: Don't hold forward... tap it next to the wall. Also make sure you at the top of the water (ie holding page up).

I suspect that Yami has a 60inch monitor hooked up to his computer and watches gnomes in MoP with a big bowl of popcorn and a beer. "Lovely," he whispers to himself, dragging a fingertip slowly along the rim of his glass. "Another victim of my pool... yes, tap forward... tap in your fruitless efforts to escape you short, bald-headed mutant!" Then as it gradually begins to bore him, he gingerly taps the MoP nuke key and the smile creeps back on to his face. "Excellent," he mutters, sinking back into his laz-e-boy to await another victim.

That explains why my bard so often gets hit with the snare, and the excessive nukes my bst and his pet takes...

Also explains the time I was running my boxes through it and the guy getting followed got speed at the exact moment the one following got snared.
