Dalayan Master
With the current state of itemization at the (bleeding-edge) high end, I am noticing a disturbing trend that is leading to knights losing their foot-hold as the masters of agro-generation. Weapons like Patriarch, Sword of the Ruler, Funeral Guardian's Tonfa and Jagged Emerald Staff of Evisceration are allowing bards, rangers and warriors to reach, and in some cases, surpass the agro generated by a knight class. This is due to the fact that knights agro is totally dependant on spells, which do not improve as time goes on, while the other classes depend on items to generate agro, which do improve as more content is made available, as well as other procs (bards/rangers) spells (bards/rangers) and snap agro (warriors).
I can see a number of solutions to this, (that may solve some problems, but form others) some involving removing certain classes from agro-based weapons, others changing shared knight AAs to allow for more agro-generation capabilites, and others still involve adding knight one hand weapons with large agro-generating procs and other effects.
But one idea I had was to add a new set of items (quested, dropped, whatever) with various agro clicky effects. Boots with a clicky "War Stomp" that does a 20 range AE with 150 agro and a 1 second stun, on a 5 minute timer. A shield with a clicky "Shield Slam" that does 300 agro to a single target and 150 damage, on an 8 minute timer. Situational -but very useful- clicky effects that help the tanking classes with agro, while not unbalancing in terms of warrior agro vs knight agro.
I'm not sure if the staff even thinks this is a problem, but when the agro spells were designed, most -if any- of the items in question didn't exist, and to my knowledge, the spells haven't been improved to keep up with the items.
Please note this is a post directed at the staff, and to some extent, players at the high end. If you have a good idea or arguement (pro/con doesn't matter) please post it, but if you're some level twenty warrior and you want to talk about how Live was, or how you want some form of better agro generation at the lower levels of the game, please don't piggy-back on my thread. To quote the words of the immortal Harney, please don't shit up my thread.
