Or is it? I keep seeing people say similar things and have been thinking about it alot lately. It costs money to provide the server, therefore it is not free. The big difference is it is being ran as a not for profit operation off of donations. Someone pays or it does not exist. The GM's and staff get no wages, they give their time out of love for the game.

So, let's not say it is free. Just that we are not forced to line anyones pockets. We all play due to those who do donate, because without them there is no server. I want to thank everyone of the donators for providing this great, GREAT server. And I want to thank the staff and GM's for giving me their time and sharing their love of this game with us all. And I want to thank Wiz, without whom there would be nothing to thank anyone else for.

On live I HATED having to pay ... what were we paying for?? The service (for a lack of a better phrase) :censored: !!!! [insert here my rant about SoE I decided agianst, in order to keep with the feel good flow of the thread <eg>] Danku made a great point and I agree, I love being able to donate to SoD because I'm not forced to "line someones pocket." Just my 2cp.

Everyone deserves beer money. Donators allow the people running the server to waste more of their money on beer and less on maintaining the servers. Thus my justification for donating goes. <3
 
Been here about a week, and already helping out a small bit to keep the server up, great job all staff, all donaters, all players, for with out you all, i would still be (as the general consinses goes) lineing soe's pockets.

Weird, when I typed this it was about the cocaine thingy but quoted wrong one. But beer is funny too, just not as funny =P

sassing GMs is dangerous business. sassing admins is more dangerouser. sassing zodium during banfest is downright silly.
