Tarhansar Aug Effect

Haenir

Dalayan Master
Suggestion: Make the EB effect on the Tarhansar diety augment a worn effect.

Reasons:
  1. Currently does nothing once inserted. (Fixing the clicky to work from charm would be a solution but not my preferred -- see reason 2).
  2. From a lore perspective it would read as Tarhansar protecting his chosen disciple from drowning -- and only his disciple. I personally find this more appealing than the current reading of the item as Tarhansar giving his disciple the power to protect himself/others from drowning.
  3. I don't know if the Glowing Pearl of Tarhansar is the finished version (it is the strongest listed on wiki), but if it is, it seems to have relatively weak stats, even when compared to the Jayla aug. Does overcap swimming actually do anything?
  4. I'm not finished with the quest yet, but I've heard from others that some of the later encounters are quite hard compared to other diety aug questlines. Perhaps this is simply a matter of less familiarity with them... Any comments?
Potential Problems:
  1. Overpowered -- I'm unaware of any other worn effect EB items. It would basically be equivalent to a soulbonded permanent illusion water elemental without the buff slot.
    • I don't believe this would be overpowered since worshipers of Tarhansar will realize little benefit from the item in PoW. Kedge Keep is the primary zone it would benefit them in. There are some other small areas that come to mind, e.g. parts of Siren's Grotto, Ambassador of Hakim, etc. Anything significant I am forgetting?
  2. The infidel worshipers of other dieties will be jealous.
    • Not being an infidel myself I'm not sure what issues will be raised.

At one point there were worn EB items (and worn runspeed items as well), but those were removed for reasons I don't remember, so I wouldn't hold my breath on that one.

Glowing Pearl is not the final one, just the last one attainable - final fight of that quest was never implemented. Thats why it looks comparably weak.

Mountain King (t9? 6man), Essence of the Mother (t10 raid) and The Void Worm (t11 raid) are all underwater fights, and atleast 2 of them dispell EB.

Let's speak honestly about fights that dispel EB: its a stupid mechanic that isn't fun for anybody. It's dowm there with aoe blind in the fun column.

Yet still more powerful than the final Jayla Aug =/

Besides it not being the true final aug for the quest-line, the deity augs are supposed to scale with what you lose by pledging that deity, which is why jayla and enthann have augs that have less stats than like Tarhyl's deity aug which has the most. As far as I've seen the fights in the questline are not harder than the others, but can be annoying (ie. mob that needs to be protected summons mobs from tanks to kill himself and can't be healed).

True however giving up any zone, other that ToT for some classes, is not a very difficult choice in the current game.
