And general experience playing a tank, I've come to the conclusion there needs to be more tank loot, or something done about boxes. Tanking already the "hardest" role to play, I use "hardest" because the difficulty comes from many different things. With the Inflation of Retired boxes and the ability to box your friend/guild tank it gets very hard for tanks to find exp and gear. I'm even guilty of telling some one that if they want to tank level up a warrior cleric to 65, joining a guild raiding until your cleric is phat enough to use your cleric as weight to bring your scummy warrior to pug raids.I honestly don't think it would hurt any one to add some extra tank loot War,SK,Pal to most zones.
Reason why playing a tank is "hard"
-Tanking is the most active of all the roles in groups/raids
-A bad gear/aa DPS can get any group as its not as acceptable for a tank
-At least a geared tank may have some option to DPS in groups they arn't main tanking.
-People would prefer a boxed tank over you......
If you ask any tank they will all tell you that it takes a long time before you can get the respect of players in groups. I was just talking with a tank the other day about finally getting to the level where people will gladly accept you as a tank in the group. As I mentioned its very easy to get an old retired/inactive tank info to help you exp. Ringo/stope hasn't played in 3 years and has probably more time played in the 3 years then your average Dalaya player. I also think that lesser zones would get used more if people didn't have uber tanks at their disposal. Here is some brain storming about fixes.
Tank gear progression. Adding more NO-DROP tank loot to zones, All zones. Its sort of a bandaid but one that wouldn't require as much work as a class overhaul. Give named in exp zones some no-drop tank loot. On the scale of raiding add more tank drops to trash for your guilds off tanks. Perhaps add some mini named to mobs in areas of raid zones that trash isn't pulled.
Retired tanks. Maybe give tanks an incentive to retire their heroes. Perhaps some type of rested bonus when they return. As it is now you can get exp while not even playing SoD if you give out your info to a friend/guild.
Class overhaul. There are other threads about this, however its still an option for this issue.

Its tough to start out as a tank. How can we make it so we don't have to warn new players how frustrating it can be.
