Tank issues

And general experience playing a tank, I've come to the conclusion there needs to be more tank loot, or something done about boxes. Tanking already the "hardest" role to play, I use "hardest" because the difficulty comes from many different things. With the Inflation of Retired boxes and the ability to box your friend/guild tank it gets very hard for tanks to find exp and gear. I'm even guilty of telling some one that if they want to tank level up a warrior cleric to 65, joining a guild raiding until your cleric is phat enough to use your cleric as weight to bring your scummy warrior to pug raids.I honestly don't think it would hurt any one to add some extra tank loot War,SK,Pal to most zones.

Reason why playing a tank is "hard"
-Tanking is the most active of all the roles in groups/raids
-A bad gear/aa DPS can get any group as its not as acceptable for a tank
-At least a geared tank may have some option to DPS in groups they arn't main tanking.
-People would prefer a boxed tank over you......

If you ask any tank they will all tell you that it takes a long time before you can get the respect of players in groups. I was just talking with a tank the other day about finally getting to the level where people will gladly accept you as a tank in the group. As I mentioned its very easy to get an old retired/inactive tank info to help you exp. Ringo/stope hasn't played in 3 years and has probably more time played in the 3 years then your average Dalaya player. I also think that lesser zones would get used more if people didn't have uber tanks at their disposal. Here is some brain storming about fixes.

Tank gear progression. Adding more NO-DROP tank loot to zones, All zones. Its sort of a bandaid but one that wouldn't require as much work as a class overhaul. Give named in exp zones some no-drop tank loot. On the scale of raiding add more tank drops to trash for your guilds off tanks. Perhaps add some mini named to mobs in areas of raid zones that trash isn't pulled.

Retired tanks. Maybe give tanks an incentive to retire their heroes. Perhaps some type of rested bonus when they return. As it is now you can get exp while not even playing SoD if you give out your info to a friend/guild.

Class overhaul. There are other threads about this, however its still an option for this issue.

TL:DR
Its tough to start out as a tank. How can we make it so we don't have to warn new players how frustrating it can be.

This is an issue that spans every class, it's just the most extreme for tanks. It'd be cool to implement something like this for all classes, but in the short term tanks could use it the most. My favorite idea that would help this was what Zaela had in mind for DFS that she posted in the Tier 1 thread.

If that's not going to happen, the "more nodrop gear" from exp zones would be cool but I'd want them to have a chance to drop in addition to the normal item. Getting a rare named to finally spawn and getting a nodrop item that nobody wants isn't fun.

Zaela said the other day that class checks on loot tables is a thing that could be. Such a thing would make more nodrops significantly less of an annoyance.

Second Susvain on seconding the DFS idea. Giving fresh 65s a zone or two (plus tmaps) to get T1/2 geared instead of the splintered PITA that those tiers are now would be great for players new and old.

Very true, the best thing to do in my opinion would be to add more tank loot ( or everyclass loots) to simple tmaps or simply just revamp the simple treasure maps and make all the loot that is already on there stronger.

So we are talking about an entire Low tier revamp. Making T3 the new T1. After the dust settles from the Account drive we should focus next month on the Low Tier Revamps. Lowering T1-2 mobs to adepts and bumping others up to 3.

Level 60 adept raid zones Throw in some Exp-able Gear call it a day
Stormkeep
West Waste

Freeport area named adjust to 55 adepts.
Plaguefang
Lavascale
Grandmaster Tyranna
High Beguiler Garos
The Arena Keeper

And make the rest of the scattered low tier like Lenny Have Dropable loot again.

+1 for the Zae DFS revamp
West Wastes named could be adepts (Max 60 maybe?) and EDHK/WDHK into 6-man wings.
Freeport area named could become more max 60 adepts.
Rebalance other scattered T1-2 named, Old One-eye, Gnok, etc into max 60 adepts also.
Add exp-able code to all their loot, and the stuff may actually become worthwhile.

I don't think you can or should convert Stormkeep, unless the king is moved to Storm's Eye. Which he probably should be anyways, as that could balance the difficulty with getting the king's head (super easy) compared to the Empress' head (clear most of NDHK).

I like the idea of adding a bunch of 55 adepts (and a couple 40-54 as they are few), however, factioning on giants/dragons should not be forced/mandatory prior to 65.

Gearing into current T3/4 would be much smoother and, arguably, more enjoyable with more adepts to clear 55ish and some more 6man content similar to Zaela's proposed DFS change, or CMAL or something if DFS won't happen.

Bonus: roll any leftover T1/2 into T3 and cause mass confusion when the server goes back to 11 tiers. 11 was a much better number imho, like 10 was the max but you could crank it past the max if you were extreme. Like a bitchin' guitar amp.

what about people who dont want to bother with adepts?

because it can be a pain to get groups for them and a lot of people level past them without realizing, especially if its their first playthrough

With the Inflation of Retired boxes and the ability to box your friend/guild tank...

Yeah,it sucks badly,I think this is the biggest problem SoD has and not only tank related.
It makes all time and effort a "normal" player invests in his char absolutly worthless.
Loved it when I was asked on one of my 1st guild raids to log my own Cleric to box another
"higher" level one.

Sadly I have no solution to offer besides prohibiting boxing.

You might want to tell your guild to not do content its not ready for then.

Stop making characters. Create a lvl 1, log on, then use a combination of charm, threats, and bribery to get the info on some 65+ toons. Assuming you get xp and occasionally loot for that character the original owner, if they still play (probably not), will never take them away.

Solved. Thread over.

might be same peep else just had a similar event here,

I think it was the new recruit on his first day, gets backgeared thru essence and drakes
and when we got to nz, he was asked to play a cleric that would survive the fight,
then we could continue to backgear him with targets in spires.

he declined and i 2box'd clerics like a boss for that go
sadly was his first and only raid if same peep =/

yo im not exactly sure what this thread is about but no more 55 adepts thank you we have enough desu look at my 55 alt epeen waving without adding more reasons to live a life of illusion at Level Fifty-Five

if he declined to play someone else on a fight you basically need to be buff for then I hope hes viewed differently among your guild members.

Hey dudes I will deff. help you out... only if it benefits me though.

Sorry to break from the topic of the OP, but +1 here.
