Tank for my Cleric

I decided to roll up a human and I put 15 pts into cha to get it to 100 and then 5 into wis to get it to 85. I know Magina was "REALLY" pushing the Erudite, but I was having a hard time justing its weak physical stats conpared to the human. Guess I'm still stuck on Live & how much more difficult it will be leveling. My buddy with the BL/druid has a limited play time so I don't know how often we will be able to grp. Of course there are other grps out there.

I'm going to be spending alot of time leveling & I don't have the money to buy nice items yet. I guess the cleric can solo kaladim for some stuff???

Does the racial bonus of the Erud for spec bonus really make up for their weak physical stats?
I know at end game the phys stats dont matter due to gear/aa's., but its getting there )
If the Erudite ends up being the best way to go I can always reroll and level faster since I'll have a better grasp of the class. they do look kinda cool and I havent seen that many of them. I also really considered a High elf.

Thanks again for all of the responses. I REALLY appreciated it.!

Your problem is bad gear, not bad stat allocation. Although you should of put no stats into wisdom (wasted). If you're desire is high end then yes it matters that you put it into charisma, stats are overrated at the low levels and the racial bonuses are more or less being talked about in the extreme high end when the ways to improve your character were nonexistent and you basically declared superiority by having the same gear as player z but a better racial bonus. Also since they are apparently all getting rebalanced sooner or later who cares. The only good advice you really got from this thread is to dump everything into charisma since that makes a big difference leveling. tl;dr do whatever race you want just dump it into cha

Pretty much, and as a class that relies on getting aggro with spells that can get resisted painfully often, getting more CHA does not only make it easier to hit them, but it's also the HARDEST of the stats to raise high-end.

So the 5 points that I put into wis thinking it would help with more mana backfired?
Will a 105 cha benefit me more than a 100 cha unbuffed?

The toon is L4. should I reroll to put all 20 pts into charisma?
I have a low level shaman that I'm duoing with the paladin to help him level. Planing on using the shaman til the pally gets close to the clerics level.

On a side note. Do the specializations really help/work? I've been putting points into Energy/Defense. At what level/skill will I notice a difference?

Thanks again everyone.

Wisdom is just straight up wasted for the most part, charisma all the way. Specializations make a difference but you cannot really tell until the higher levels.

If you're level 4, just re roll.

I have no idea if race balancing is going to happen or not, but i'd take Otcho's word for it. If so, meh, as erudite is only SLIGHTLY better than the other choices.

I would reroll as a froglok or dwarf if you're worried about the starting stats while levelling up. During levelling both might be preferable. If looking to end game a gnome or erudite would be the best way to go, of those you would notice the racial effect of the gnome more before lvl 65. Either froglok, dwarf or gnome means you wouldnt be blind as a bat which would also be an advantage. Whichever you go for put as many points as you can into charisma.

So what about High Elf Paladin? I've seen a few & they have the highest wis. Only better than Human by 5. Guess the physical stats won't matter too much since the sham can buff those up. Hopefully, it wont take too long to get decent gear. *...Looks for Fanny...*

I'm not too worried about vision since i was planning to level with my L11 shaman and they get vision buffs.

Also, I made my cleric several years ago (like 2004 ish) w/o all this info about the importance of charisma. He is a Dwarf cleric with all points i could into wis & 5 into charisma. Do I need to reroll the cleric?
That would suck.

high elf is immune to charm, which is kinda neat. However, the common opinion among players seem to be that in the fights where it would matter, the charm is unresistable even for the high elf anyways, thus rendering this innate useless on those encounters. 20% reistance to mez is quite nice though, even though you have a stance for encounters where it would be important. The high elf wont suck, I stay with my other recommendations though.

As for the cleric, I assume that most of the time playing him you will either be healing or doing melee dps. In these scenarios you dont need charisma at all. Charisma is only needed to make the spells you cast on mobs in battle be resisted less. Since you wont be casting that much on mobs as a cleric it wont matter. I suppose you might be casting some on undead mobs, but it would rarely be one of your primary functions. Ie stay with the dwarf.

CHA is useful on a cleric for when you're either nuking undead, doing pbaoes to fuck around, but primarily when you're rolling around with a hammer proccing like it's your job.

Your cleric should be fine though ngl.
