Turtle,
I thought I had it when I used your eqconfig.ini. I went through 3 doors "room" transitions witout a hitch before I got my first boot. This is very frustrating indeed. I still get 1017 and World crashes when transitioning between rooms.
In case anyone else is monitoring this, here are the steps I used for a clean install.
1. Go to
www.EQEmulator.net. You’ll need to register an account with them to get your cd-key. The registration link is in the top right corner.
2. Register for an account. EQEmu will not accept e-mail addresses from popular free email services like yahoo or hotmail. If you do not have your own personal email address, you can get a free email account at
http://mail.go4.it
3. After you have gotten the EQEmu confirmation e-mail and have activated your account, click on Profile and log in. On the Profile screen, you’ll see a line at the top called Login Server Activation Key. This is your CD-key for creating your EQ account. Write it down.
4. Install Everquest.
5. Patch your Everquest to full by running the live update available by clicking on the icon it installed on your desktop. (You can do this by running the test server in the Windows software mentioned below) Note: After running live update, delete this shortcut from your desktop. If you do not have all or any of these expansions, you can still play, but you will miss out on some areas of play.
6.Download the PatchWR from the WR Download site and extract it into any directory such as C:\program files\sony.
7. Download EQUI_CharacterCreate and unzip that file into /everquest/uifiles/default! If not INSIDE the Default folder of your UI folder then you will NOT be able to create a character.
8. Download UI_Caster and unzip the Sars4caster directory into the \sony\everquest directory
9. Download new MAPS.ZIP (300MB), unzip them and put them in the maps directory
10. Download a new HELP file and overwrite the existing help.htm.
11. Run the WR patcher it will check for updates from the WR website. After that is updated, click on Configure if you plan on using the EQ windows and point the top line to where you have your Everquest main directory and the second line should point to where you extracted the subdirectory where you put the Windowing program from the end of step 7.
12. On the Patcher, Press Run. Hit ‘I accept’. Go to Account and create an account like you normally would, using the CD-key you were provided when you registered on EQEmu. For simplicity sake we recommend that you name your EQ account the same as your EQEmu account.
13. After that, type in your login and password. Find Winter's Roar (Legit, Custom) on the server list (we should be near the top in the green preferred color). Hit Enter.
14. Create a character and enter the world
15. (This doesn't work) VERY IMPORTANT When you log in, you'll need to approve your account for play. MAKE SURE you have read the rules and agree to them. After you've logged in, you have 60 seconds to auto-enable your account. If you manage to bungle it - don't worry. Just log in and try again. To do this, type: #doapproval. After typing this you will still be stunned for the 60 seconds but this will flag your account in order to play on Winter's Roar, and you are now all ready to start playing!
17. I also downloaded and installed Sars4casters from WR, a skin to assist casters. I don’t like the skin, but that’s a difference between our files.
18. I also installed all the maps.zip (300mb) I downloaded from
http://www.rogean.com/maps/maps.zip
If anyone sees a cause for my error, please post it. I think the STAFF should resolve this for us.
