I was kiting mobs in East Plaguelands while wearing a Summoned: Locket of Searfire and was noticing a glaring lack of crit nuke procs. At one point I counted about 3 crit nukes out of 170+ procs so I decided to start logging and parsing just to be sure my eyes weren't fooling me. I was wearing the Searfire at all times during combat. I even removed it a couple times between fights and zoned just in case. I currently have zero AAs in the Spell Casting Fury line so I should be getting about a 10% crit rate due entirely to the Searfire.
Conditions:
65 ranger
weapon proc was Quiver of Flame
dex was a constant 253 (which shouldn't affect crit rate)
bows used were Searwood and Ashenstrike, neither of which has an innate proc
Results:
504 total weapon procs
7 Critical Blast msgs
1 Critical Blast that I know I was out of range for msg
8 / 504 = 1.59% crit nuke rate
After I visually noticed the lack of crits and started parsing, I tried very hard to stay within range to receive the crit blast msg. It is possible that I could have been OOR on a couple more crit blast msgs, so let's narrow it by comparing the number of procs that hit for max dmg vs the number of procs that crit'd for max dmg.
392 weapon procs landed for max dmg of 153
6 weapon procs hit for dmg of 306 (2x max dmg thus were crits)
6 / 392 = 1.53% crit nuke rate
I would like to request that someone please take a look at the Searfire neck. If everything is as it should be, perhaps it is related to the problem with Deadeye 1 though Deadeye is supposed to only affect archery crit and accuracy rates.
