suggestions to a quicker, more effecient and balanced solo

Maybe saying you'll never be oom was a little overexageration but I just wanted to get the point across that wizard soloing is definitely NOT nuke for 5 mins, sit for 10, rinse and repeat.

Yeah run speed is different depending on the mobs, I was soloing wyrms in GD and they moved pretty slow so I wasn't having much trouble 5 mana nuking.
 
I guess I don't see the reason to change this.
You're effectively decreasing the downtime for everyone, not just soloers.

Eg.
Two melee, both with heal bots (or hell, 4 people, two real human-played healers!).
Beat the crap out of something with one healing, while the other gets this 'bonus'.
Do a few mobs, player #1 is oom, player #2 is fm.
Swap who heals for the next few fights, and let player #1 get this bonus.

Is the downtime really so bad now?

Yeah, a wizard (or druid, mage, etc) can blow up a blue thing, at a hard drain on their mana, and then have to sit for 5 minutes.

Go try to kill that same thing with a Rogue.
Then again, maybe if melee haven't been in combat for a tick, we can increase their dps by 10% for every tick they're "idle", then we can solo more effectively too.
 
Alton, you missed the idea that you Cannot get this regen rate while you are in a group, so your insane nonstop mob murder spree with unlimited healing could not possibly take place. Personally, I think it's a good idea. It would have to be experimented with to see the exact per tick regen that would work best without giving unfair advantages, but as a Wizard who has +230 mana from equipment, and 1 FT item, I see this 'advanced meditation' as something that would make soloing a bit more bearable. Don't get me wrong, I love grouping, I love not taking any aggro, and getting XP, but you cannot always find a group. I spend at least 40% of the time I'm on LFG, and maybe another 40% grouped and XPing, the rest is quests, skills, and everything else. It would be nice to be able to solo that 40% of the time.
 
I think the idea is interesting for sure. A slight improvement on long downtimes could definitely make soloing more bearable. A lot of SOD is really geared towards getting people to group but the fact of the matter is is that you can't get a group quite often.

With some good implementation, I don't see how it could really be abused either with these swapping ideas and such.

Agreed.
This discussion so far, to me, looks like a bunch of casters complaining that they're "OOMZ" too much. Be happy that you can solo in the first place as there are many classes (MELEES) that can't.
