Suggestions for a real new player...

Pravius

Dalayan Beginner
I have played Everquest on live servers just one time made it to level 10 and that was it. I am really looking for a good community of players and want to try out this shard. I have a couple questions first...

Is this community friendly to new players or do you need to have a really good understanding of EQ to even be accepted?

I am a pretty casual player and dont want to get into a class that requires alot of time.. any suggestions?

As for a guild like I said I am here for the community and to make some new friends any guilds recruit new players or are they all high level raiding guilds?

Any feedback would be most appreciated and thank you all for your time in reading!

You start the game in the Dalaya's Beginners guild. This is a "default" guild where you are more than welcome to ask any question you have or ask for assistance in completing one task or the other. Some people stay in that guild for all of their career, so I'd say SoD is extremely newbie friendly. Flaming is also severely frowned upon by both the community and GMs.

As for classes that don't require a lot of time, good question... Probably a class that can solo well then, so that you don't have to hunt down groups too much. Note that quests provide rather nice exp and so does tradeskills skill-ups (once you hit the 30ish skill points mark), so even if you spend 15 minutes running around a city, you can still get a little exp.

As for guilds, well, check the guilds forum. Dalaya's Beginners will get you started anyway.

Hello, Pravius.

This community is accepting to new players. When you create your character, you are automatically placed into a guild called "Dalaya's Beginners". This guild is full of people who will help you and are there to talk to if you want.

EDIT:Oop, looks like Oualawouzou beat me to it.

I personally would suggest a solo class like a Beastlord if you are a casual player. They are pretty easy to play, but as with all classes, there is a learning curve to get used to playing a beastlord.

There are several guilds who are friendly, casual guilds who don't raid. Alot however, do raid alot. There are those few guilds that are friendly and the guild you are put into when you start(Dalaya's Beginners) is a good place to start in.

This is the single best server I have ever played on. That includes Rallos Zek, Mith Marr, Xev, Povar from live over a span of many years. The people are great. The staff is superb! (they LISTEN to players!)

In the low levels do not fret. Equipment is a bit scarce but it gets easier. Focus on leveling and getting equipment for your main. Tradeskills are alot of fun here and different from live too.

There is a thread in SoD discussion of the Must Have Links. Read up! Many concepts are completely unique to SoD. For example, Adept mobs. They can only be attacked when they are red con but drop treasure that is great for the level.

Have fun!

Read the threads in the "tome of knowledge" section of the forums. The information is priceless for newbies.

And welcome :)

SoD is the most friendly server i have ever playeed on. you will enjoy it. you also by defalt begin in a guild which will help you a lot. also with trade skill out there most of the time there is some one working up a trade skill that will cut you some nice deal just about what a vender pay them for low to middle range items. look foward to seeing you out there. hason the warrior. :D
