This will probably get a big knocking from alot of people on this forum, but what if WR did have a subscription fee... $4 as opposed to $15, where we get a good community, with GM's that listen to your suggestions, and are ever making brilliant changes to the game.

EDIT:

I'm sure the population would fall alot, maintaining all donators but when the others find theres no comparrison, maybe some will go back to live, but i'm sure atleast 1/4 of those that left would come back.

After reading the last several threads started by you, I'd like to hazzard a guess about something.

You post on the World of Warcraft General forum alot, don't you?

100% correct. WR can not charge a subscription fee to play unless they have a legal agreement with SOE allowing them to do it. If they did try to mandate a subscription then SOE would sue them faster than you can say "intellectual property rights". If somebody is making money from EQ, it better be SOE because they own the rights.

Think about WR like you would a cover band. There's a band in my area that plays a lot of Motorhead & Iron Maiden songs for example. That's perfectly ok for them to do it live because they aren't making money off the songs. However, if they went to a studio & recorded the songs, then tried to sell them on CD that would get a lawyer's attention real quick. They would need the original artist's permission to make the recording, and likely have to pay a royalty on sales too.

Long story short, a mandatory subscription is not an option.

I don't think any of these things are possible in any way, shape or form.

To be honest i didnt think about the legal, ram... Same extends if they inculde items as part of the 'donators' perks.

And thats not really a constructive comment.
 
I find it really offensive that you put donators in quotations marks. Do you really think people are giving money for 1) a gate neck 2) scale of the wolf boots 3) a clicky illusion? I don't.

Wiz already brought up the comparison about giving blood. Do blood donators give blood for the free cookies and juice?
 
Wow, it seems like your trying really hard to twist everything people have said. Is this because no one agrees with you?

I would DONATE for "WR", not for some cheap toys that aren't even worth the $25 a month.

I haven't seen anyone using these changes thus far and me feeling jealous or envious becuase I'm not a plat donor. Also, I don't see people massive gating to sell stuff either. I think you really should drop this drama.

Giving your point of view is fine, but your repeatance of seemingly trying to undermine the server creator and twisting the truth and words of people is getting quite frustrating for me and probaly others.
 
... omg cathis go away.... If u don't like the way wiz runs his server don't play here dont' donate. Take ur money make ur own server and have people donate however you like. Don't make any new threads concering donations cause no one really cares but you it seems.
 
This is nothing more than meaningless trolling. You've received so many negative responses about what you've posted before, yet you post about it again?

It's a pity you feel the way you do about it...not going to change for one person who has a problem though, just settle down and except it, it's not hurting you or WR, as far as i've seen.
 
Ok, I can't keep my mouth shut anymore.
I started to donate for platinum donator 2 month ago.
At that current time my computer had burned up and I couldn't play WR (on top of that I broke up with my GF and moved).
Why did I do it, I wanted the nice perks of eh... oh wait, there was no perks, well, there was a scarecrow illu clicky.
I wasn't even able to play WR, but WR was in WAY WAY WAY WAY red and was going to die because Wiz didn't have the cash to put up yet another $200 like he have done MANY times before.
I couldn't play, but still I donated because I've been on this server for 2 years now and I would hate to see it die, I donated because I wanted to help OTHERS, yeah you that want to enjoy the wonderfull game of Winters Roar and you CAN do it for free.
I posted a note about this on the board that I wanted more to donate to help WR stay alive. And people started to help, then the wonderfull person of Injektilo signed up for 4 yes 4 plat accounts so the server foundings went into the green.
Why did he do this, well, only he can answer to that but my guess it's the same reason I did it, so all of YOU could enjoy this game. He (and I) didn't do it for ourself, no we donated so the server could stay alive and YOU can enjoy it.
Wiz and the staff (like they have said) loved Injektilo (and the rest of us (yes, not only the donators)) because without us there would be no WR.
But, they thought that it isn't really fair that one person should pay for half the server cost (tho wiz has done so and more for several months) so they decieded that they wanted to give us (donators) a little perk because we keep the server alive for the rest that either don't want to donate or those who just can't afford it.
Yes, they did this to get more people to donate (so 1 person don't need to donate half the server found) AND because the server has grown ALOT the last few months and the server WR uses needs to be upgraded if it's going to stay alive. So.... they had 2 options, hope that more people wouldn't come to WR so no upgrade is needed (eh... yeah sure), or close down the server because of lack of founds.
So yes, they implemented a little perk system so there would be more people willing to donate. Is that wrong ??? I have to say, if you think so then you need to change your vardrobe (spelling) to a white shirt with buttons on the back.
Oh well, I'm rambling here so I better stop now.

The thing that REALLY pisses me off tho Cathis is that you want people to NOT donate, ie you want server to die. Really how :censored: stupied can you get, if you don't like the changes, leave. I promize that you won't be really missed. Yeah, I'm being really pissed of the stupied comments you have made about the donation changes, because stupied it is, and well, from reading your posts I'll have to call you stupied.
 
You have just hit the proverbial rock bottom for your goodwill about this donator crap. Noone agrees with you except your real life friend, and by now you're just trolling.

Trolling is against the rules. If you make any more threads about this, you will be removed.
