hello everyone

ok dont get me wrong the main reason i donate is to keep the server up and so wiz can pay his rent and buy Xmas gifts

id just like to make a point

you get 3 gifts if you take the platinum subscription

clicky illusion scarcrow for silver speed boots for gold and the pockit plane for platinum

these are all very nice items but the novality wares off quick theres only so much fun you can have beeing a scarcrow and once you get sow you wont use the boots


the pockit plane is great thow apart from you cant buy bandages there =(


but if you get people to join dalaya you get fame points that can be used to buy levels AAs platinum

and toy items witch is alot better then what you get for subscribing

would it be possable to exchange the subscription items for fame points ? or mabe give them a choice when subscribing for eather the items or fame points

Subscribing isn't meant to give significant benefits. It's more of a little "thanks for donating" perk. We appreciate your donation very much, but having money should not be synonymous with having an advantage.

Ogres and Trolls might have a completely different viewpoint on the importance of the scarecrow illusion. From my years as a Troll SK on live, I know that we would have gladly payed 100k pp for anything like it. Gnomes, Halflings, and Dwarves certainly have a need of it on occasion. Finally, it's pretty huge to lower level Humans, Erudites, and Barbarians.

The zone designers (of EQ Live) were a forgetful and moronic bunch of people who seems to think that everyone is human size. There are places that humans can go that gnomes simply cannot jump high enough. There are places that gnomes have to jump, and use stamina, where humans can simply walk for free. There are many, many places where Ogres and Trolls do not fit in any fashion. You cannot realistically hold the lantern after level 4, but there area lot of dark places to travel before you get vision items in the late 20s to early 40s. The scarecrow gives Infravision and the zone design perfection of the Human size.

I simply cannot see how any player that is not a friggen elf is not at least a silver donator.


Personally, I pay my :10bux: . I want to world to know I am here because it is the best game, not because it's free or cheaper. I am in a bit of a personal money crunch and cannot realistically afford Platinum, or I would. I still consider it, even so. The boots for gold and the Pocket Plane for platinum are nice toys that have there uses... a bit more straightforward... but neither are anywhere near the value of the Idol of the Donator.

im just asking if we can get a choice as to what we want

a one time shot of fame points insted of the items for subscribing to much to ask ?

Pocket plane is actually very very useful, particularly for classes that can't port.

Boots are also very very useful, particularly for classes that don't get SoW at higher levels.

Scarecrow illusion, as has been pointed out, is also useful.

While they all have advantages, they aren't huge. And thank goodness! I remember being shocked and outraged when Sony began to sell in-game items etc. for RL ca$h,

As Zodium said, we don't want people to be able to buy whatever they want in the game with RL money. That's just not the way it works. It would totally go against game integrity. Want a new weapon? No prob, just donate 25 bucks. The last 7 AAs for perma going kinda slow? Not a problem, here's our paypal email addy, just shoot us 40 smackers and you're good to go.

You see where this becomes a problem?

The donator items are intended to be something fun that you can play around with, as Zodium said. If we made them into something that actually seriously affected gameplay, it would turn SoD into just another EQEmu server. It'd be like adding in #level-type commands, only favoring those in lucrative RL positions.
