Stupidest thing to happen to you on Shards?

Probably one of the most bone-headed things I've done in awhile.

I decided to muster up some Level 8 and 9s to take on Grikk the Reborn in Stinger's Bog. I figured, heck - I'm almost level 10, I better get on it.

After a bit of time, I found a few people and we had a decent group thrown together. I was the shaman - we had a warrior, mage, necromancer, and a wizard. We met up at Grikk's area and proceeded to buff up. I (foolishly) had not trained in Meditate yet, so I was buffing pretty slow and was anxious to get the fight moving. After a bit of a wait, we were buffed up and ready to engage.

The warrior ran in to gain aggro, no problem.. his health started to drop, I hit my hotkey I normally have 'Light Healing' in -- and wtf! It's 'Spirit of the Bear' -- ah man! I try to ninja mem healing and the warrior dropped like a rock. Needless to say, we wiped and I apologized profusely.

So we decide to try again with some good-natured heckling. "Do you have healing memmed?" - "Hey, check again!"

I was pretty close to level 10 and was getting abit worried. I was running back to the spawn and my groupmates were clearing the area again.

One mob, down.. gained experience.. two mobs, down.. gained experience..

"Hey guys, if we kill one more I'll be level 10.."

Wouldn't you know, I hit level 10 in the group.

Not really knowing the rules of Adepts, I dropped from the group and they dropped my buffs. So I figured I could atleast stand back and heal.. wrong.

The warrior died -- and needless to say, we never killed Grikk.

So what interesting stories do you have?

We were lvl 8-10 grouping the pyramids in Greenmist and I decided that it was taking too long for our enchanter to cast mez and though I'd go pull one mob. I chain aggro'd three and one of which was a healer, and in such a style as only Leeroy Jenkins could exhibit, wiped my group of 6.

A week later when I tried to get into the same group I was let in on the condition that I did not attempt to pull anything, nothing, at all.

was in a small group of friends, we were levels 24-27 and had just gotten to the entrance to 4C camp in temple of yaralith, we didn't really know what to expect but we pulled a couple of red mobs anyway.. killed them without too much trouble and figured we'd go in in a minute or two. wrong, an ogre maybe 5 or so levels above us decides that he doesn't want to wait for this camp and jumps over us (literally jumps over all of us, this is a very small tunnel and theres absolutely no way he didn't see us) into the entranceway to 4C, pulls 5 red mobs.. and then dumps them all on us after he dies about 20 seconds later

i havn't exactly been playing very long.. so i'm sure there will be dumber things to happen to me in time

I, a CC class, wiped my Cata group because I was using DoTs on the mobs (had a Chanter on CC at the time).

(This was not all my fault, someone changed the way songs work and now /cm endsong and /sit does not always stop a DoT in it's tracks - still: CC class using dots in a fight that requires CC is pretty lame.)

I botted a wizard once, because i should teleport us near Freeport. So I happily loaded a purple spell to South Tarhyl in front on SNP bank.
It turned out that it was mass and not only group teleport, lol. I ran to the zone, not noticing the unusal high number of players in the zone. So I ran back and ported them one by one, I even paid one for taking the translocator :D
And I'm happy that didn't happen some other time (like when raiding PoA).

But I must say I don't make a very terrible wizard now (I think :D)

Send pet over yonder to fight ugly mob. Usual fight sequence, except in the switching back and forth between pet and mob for heals, I accidenly drop a rain spell on my pet. This is no problem, rains are AoE and the first wave of it kills the mob. Of course, now my pet zips back to me. Second wave hits me, half killing me, because it's centered around my pet, which is loyally standing next to me with a "who me?" expression. Just as I figure out where I took damage from, the third and final wave of the rain spell kills me.

I was soloing with my necro and found a mob to kill, at some point accidently switched to my self and put all my DoTs on me >< I died pretty quick.

My mage was level 65 and I decided to level up my wizard. Guild let me borrow one of the wizards so I could get use to 2 boxxing mage/wizard so that I would be use to it by the time mine was 65. On live my main was a wizard so I didn't think it was that big a deal. So we go to Cmal. I'm playing ok, thinking, "hey, this isn't so bad". Then, due to some adds, it got a bit hectic. I'm nuking - alt+tab - nuking but what I didn't know at the time was that the Tab key defaults to targetting yourself. And sometimes I would let the Tab key go too late and my target switches without me noticing, especially on hectic pulls. :p

So I had cast the nuke on wizard switched to mage (without noticing I had myself targeted), switched to wizard, and switched back to my mage only to see myself getting nuked by myself (and wouldn't you know it, I critted :p). I suppose it would have been funnier if I had died but I simply ended up with 2% of my life left. Needless to say, the Tab key isnt bound to anything anymore.

I've also done what Zarimus has done a lot. :D Also, I would cast the rain and the mob dies on the second wave, if I'm MLing I go loot it only to get hit with the last wave.

Typing, IMing, watching TV, reading, talking on the phone, etc. at the wrong time while charming in a group. Yes, my group-wiping count is quite high.

Hehe, I'm happy my tab key won't work at all with EQ :D --> well, not work when i switch between tells. So I mistell often and people are just like WTF?! Considering my superior English typing skills, that becomes even funnier :)

^^
Yes, I take really long to write something with less than 10 typos in it :(

Hmm...funniest thing was more a little bug in EBL I figured.
We were hunting there, got an add, add was rootet.
I - as a Necro - was just wondering if fear was implemented since I was to lazy to look up the list and feared the cat...and it ran.
After my fear was on it I saw this mob for about 1 1/2 Seconds on the screen, it was prolly the fastest thing I've ever seen ingame.
Trained some mobs from half the zone away :p

I was on a raid on the spectral hunter. being the genious that i was, i decided the call to arms was gonna be "LEEEEROY JENKINS"

We wiped on that raid...

leroy jenkins....well me and my guild are in ndhk, we just kiled nart, i am sick as hell i mean i am dieing i was on my third week of illness and it was like 12 midnight...ne ways they are doing loot, and i have no idea what i am doing but i agrro the repops behindus...like 3 of them, long story short it was a wipe and our pally had to loot oll the drops...hehe grats venlaan....i thought for sure i was gonna get kicked but our guild leasder is a luatic and let me stasy...he even lets me go on raid in ndhk...

Lol @ Corum

Didn't the same thing happen last time? But I don't know, who that was. Well, we didn't wipe again, but just kill the adds.

I'm sure quite a few beginners have done this one already, but I'll tell it anyways because I just did this yesterday.
I had just finished the three small quests (I think they're quests) in Newport with the guard out front, where you have to kill off some giant beetles, rats, and ratmen in the sewers. Then collect the legs, tails, and ratmen hoods.

By the time I was finished I Dinged and I am now a lvl 10 warrior. I went to the Warriors Guild to train some skills, and I decided to "Challenge The Beasts", feeling I was up for defeating at least two of them. I did the first one, the gnoll pup, no problem, I win and get the Belt.
well then I got gutsy, and went for the Lion. The lion kicked my ass placing me in xp debt. I decided to buy some armor, and better weapons to try again. But I forgot one important thing: I was still suffering from Death Fatigue.
So I went up against the lion again, and found out the hard way, that I could not fight back. Then I tried running out of the guild, and the lion chased me throughout Southern Newport. I thought maybe I could escape the lion by entering the sewers. But I couldn't find an entrance oddly enough. I ended up going into the bank, thinking the Bankers, and the guards would kill off the lion....
Unfortunately that did not happen, the lion traps me in the bank, slaughters me to death, with a about 20 people standing outside watching the blood bath.
I think one person tried to heal me during the fight, but it was too late. I was dinner.
I wish you could record demos on EQ, because that would of been a funny demo to watch lol .

I did a stupid thing yesterday: I was afk long, so all my buffs faded. Then I decided to do that part of main quest, when you have to catch rotting plague. So I attacked some scorpion in EPL, who almost instantly got me down to 22% and then even poisoned me with deadly poison. I ran to zone and when I finally zoned, I had 1% of my hitpoints left. I quickly summoned myself some bandages and bandaged myself to 12% and then went afk to do my nails (well, I wasn't even really afk, I was sitting at the computer, but not watching) and only looked back to see the you died screen

Not really a thing I did but a funny bug.

Me (Luas) was grouping in Yaralith when some serious bug appeared and I ended up being grouped with (Luas).

Was really odd to see "Luas has joined the group.".

Last night I had been up for about twenty hours and was getting ready to log, but I wanted to eek out that last level before I crashed for the night.

I was at the point where I was really tired (those of you who play for marathons know what I mean) and I wasn't paying very good attention. I was two-boxing with a mage and rogue, killing gnolls in the sewers, when I alt-tabbed back to my mage I somehow ended up self-targeting, but not really paying attention I didn't realize, and cast a nuke, trying to end the fight quickly. I was low on health from meleeing and AoEing stuff, to shorten the story, I ended up knocking myself unconcious to -1. Rogue and pet managed to kill the gnoll and I bandaged myself before I bled out.

Taught me a good lesson and I moved my target status box because of it.
