Starting Zones?

I am downloading the game client atm and have been looking around the wiki and the forums but one thing I can't find is info on the starting zones.

Are they like EQ where your race typically dictated where you start? I'm going to play a Woodelf Druid and possibly box with a Dark Elf Shadowknight so would like to know if I'll have issues getting them together at the start of the game.

It won't be to difficult to get them together, no. Dark Elves start in Oggok, and you can use the Mansion of Portals to get to South Newport, quickly zone over to North Newport and you're in a great spot for lowbie hunting. You will start in Greater Faydark as a Wood Elf, simply head on over the Athica and look for the Mansion of Portals, building under the giant tree. Hail the Portal Wizard, go threw her dialog, and enter the Mansion of Portals. Run on over to South Newport portal, and once you're in there, zone into North Newport and both toons will be together!

If you need any help, once you're in game, just ask in Dalayan Beginners (Guild that everyone starts in and a great place to ask questions.) and someone will most likely be happy to help. Be forewarned though, listen to the Portal Wizard outside the Mansion of Portals, she will tell you of the threat that lurks inside of it, and also flag you for portal usage after going threw her dialog.

My wood elf druid started in surefall, actually. Anyways, there is a MoP in Kelethin, near the bank, no reason to run to Athica.

Hrm, the Wood Elf I created started in the tree's. Also forgot there was a MoP in Kelethin, shows how much time I've spent there I guess.

I zoned through it by accident in the MoP, that was how I found out it had been added. Not exactly common knowledge, even though it has been there a long time now.
