Spirit Call Quest in Lake Starfall

langdorn

Dalayan Elder
I am doing my council of innovation quests with my magician named Langdorn. I finished "deepocean exploration", "Gnoll Wisdom" and "until death do us part". Upon finishing the latter the next quest "spirit call" triggered as expected and i followed the gnoll preistess to various islands engaging the goblins as expected. On the main island at the foot of the ramp the gnoll preistess disappeared. I finished off a couple goblins, looted them then began looking for her. I found her at her spawn point back in the south west corner of the zone and hailed her. She talks to me as if i am starting the line of quests with her all over again with only available responses being "could you tell me more about yourself" or "could you tell me more about your people". I think i may have killed the goblins before she engaged them and it may have bugged the quest, needing a reset or whatever a developers deems neccesary. Thank you. Langdorn <army of exile>.

Doesn't matter if you kill them beforehand, they'll still spawn when she's ready for them. I'm about 99% sure your problem is that she got too low in hp and bailed. You'll need a little help more than likely on this one as she drops too low pretty fast. I'm about 90% sure you can actually heal her. Even with a healer this one can be a little tricky (cc, dps helps), but when you fail she just poofs back to spawn point, as happened with you, and you can try over and over. Just get a person or 2 to help you and try again.

I just did same part today and noticed that you're not always prompted with the right texts. From what I gathered the important lines that update your journal are:

[Wed Jan 07 11:12:10 2009] - [D1] What do you have in mind?
[Wed Jan 07 11:12:10 2009] Your faction standing with Deepwater Tribe has gotten better!
[Wed Jan 07 11:12:10 2009] You are carrying too much weight! Your avoidance bonus will be reduced.
[Wed Jan 07 11:12:10 2009] You receive Priestess' Spirit Staff from a gnoll priestess.
[Wed Jan 07 11:12:10 2009] You gain 5000 experience!!
[Wed Jan 07 11:12:10 2009] Your journal has been updated. [Until Death Us Do Part]
Here be noted that I didn't realize until now that I got an item. The important step appears to be the journal update.
She doesn't prompt that line again if you don't follow up at this point:
[Wed Jan 07 11:12:10 2009] Goram saved.
[Wed Jan 07 11:12:14 2009] You say, 'Hail, a gnoll priestess'
[Wed Jan 07 11:12:15 2009] a gnoll priestess says, 'Bark! Hail, Goram! You are always welcome here, and I owe you my eternal gratitude for freeing my husband from his torment.'
[Wed Jan 07 11:12:15 2009] - [D1] Could you tell me more about your people?
[Wed Jan 07 11:12:15 2009] - [D2] Could you tell me more about yourself?
You'll have to trigger next step by typing out the last prompt:
[Wed Jan 07 11:12:24 2009] You say, 'What do you have in mind? '
[Wed Jan 07 11:12:25 2009] a gnoll priestess says, 'When you...' The priestess swallows. 'When you slayed my mate, you released his spirit from its torment, but that is not enough. He now drifts restless on the winds of Dalaya. We must bring him back here, to this altar, to be put to rest.'
[Wed Jan 07 11:12:25 2009] - [D1] How can we do that?
[Wed Jan 07 11:12:26 2009] You say, 'How can we do that?'
[Wed Jan 07 11:12:26 2009] a gnoll priestess says, 'The goblins on the isle possess a circle of great power. It rests atop a long stair--it's difficult to miss. If you escort me there, I can call my mate's spirit down to earth. Just let me know when you're ready.'
[Wed Jan 07 11:12:26 2009] Your journal has been updated. [Spirit Call]
[Wed Jan 07 11:12:26 2009] - [D1] I am ready.
When you say 'I am ready' she runs off towards her destination.

You can repeat this part if you fail simply by saying 'I am ready.' while targetting her. Took me 2-3 tries to get it right.

From my experience clearing doesn't help, mobs repop when the priestess arrives at the waypoints. I couldn't heal her (with druid). Gaining first agro on the mobs is key. Wiki suggests rooting some and I think it helped alot.

I just did this quest with my shaman, and found that it goes smoother if you let her engage the mob first, then send in the pet, root the adds, and keep her healed. She will bail on you if her HP get too low, so I just healed her when she got to 60%. I also noticed that after combat she would heal herself sometimes, but not consistently. Mildly frustrating quest. Helps to have a mana pot if you are soloing.
