damn man cant any1 detect sarcasm anymore!! I mean cmon, its obviously not the bards fault ( unless thizik was there, and then it was probably his fault. ) <----- that was sarcasm

This is a suggestion forum for a video game mainly played by teens, it is not real life, so stop taking every post literally and arguing semantics like this is an actual important debate. ( that is directed at the jayelles and calarans of the forum world, not really at you gui although it applies here )
 
I'm glad you know absolutely everything about my forum-posting history and tendancies. Sarcasm is hard to detect on the Internet, so when you (for all I know you've been playing 2 days... or maybe you're a sex offender... or maybe you're a minister... I don't know who you are is the point) basically say in a post "don't say such and such because it's just developer speak for "i'm lazy"" that is probably going to be taken literally.

So, I apologize for having taken it wrong... on some forums, italics is used to show sarcasm... but here, there seems to be no convention. You can basically be a raging cock-slinger in a post and later say "I was joking, GAH can't you people read?"

So in that case, it is just as likely that my reaction to your post was faux-snideness. That doesn't happen to be the case, but it could have been. If you post something that, at face value, could be offensive somehow, then chances are SOMEONE is going to take it that way. This time it happened to me. There was no :D or ;) or j/k or italics or ANYTHING from which one could infer that you were kidding. I apologize for having taken you seriously; I will try to read all your posts from now on as if there is nothing other than sarcasm in them. ::notice the italics?::

Also, I didn't respond to your last post because I felt it was settled... I thought you were serious, called you out, you said you were joking and pointed out that you are indeed familiar with programming... I took that to be that.. but apparently I've now put myself in some class of forum poster that is... I don't know Jayelle, but from your tone I can infer that it was not a compliment to be grouped with her at least in your eyes. This arguing is stupid. I'm sorry I misinterpreted your original post, but it sure seemed possible that you really were being a jerk. My bad. Let's move on.

The distinction is, my suggestion can be done by the layman and doesn't require editing the exe (I hope). I had a chance to search for a guide on the subject and found this:

i didnt read every word yet im busy @ work, but im wondering if there is a spell effect file that has basically nothing in it, so when bards start playing a song i dont have to hear or see it.... or maybe one of us can create a file like this manually and paste it into our eq folder

one thing that doesnt make sense though is that a single targe file can provide animation, all my experience with .tga files tells me you need a serious of targas to create an animation, since tga is basically a tiff/jpeg type image with 0 compression... i dunno what a .dds is
