Can someone please take Soulgem of Monstrosity OUT of the game!?

It's only use is a single charge of Monster Summoning II, which is not implemented in SoD.
But some people don't know this, and they see it for sell on a vendor and think "oh neato, I can summon my own monster pet".

The only thing it is good for is cheating people out of 250-350 platinum.
 
the issue was that apparently it can be used to scam someone for 250 to 350 platinum and uh
 
Well, what else can it be used for?

Monster Summoning has been broken since forever. Why not simply remove this item, or make it something actually usefull (change the spell on it) for other things then silly S&R posts.

Oh hey, instead we can belittle somebody who *maybe* bought this item from a vendor.

The OP seemed like a reasonable solution to a potential and unnecessary waste of 250p by people who are not aware that this item is useless. Why is he getting resistance on this?
 
You can't even buy this from a vendor because vendors do not keep charged items you sell to them. Furthermore, it is only worth around 15pp in vendor price.
 
Why does this item exist, anyway? Couldn't the effect be changed to, say, anything else?

The Theurgist of Elthannar drops this item, correct? He also drops the rod of the aquamantic, and the staff of the geomantic.

Why not have the soulgem contain one charge of Great Conjuration: Air, which, as far as I can tell, is a level 49 self pet summon spell as opposed to the level 50 pet summon spell; but actually works. Also, I only suggest Air instead of Fire because of the Tongue of Fire already allows one to create a fire pet.

I see some neck with 5 charges of Burn on it (don't remember the name... something of the flame(caster...?) maybe - all the time on vendors... are vendors not supposed to sell back items that ONLY have charges on them? That neck has stats and AC on it too, so maybe that's why... b/c it's actually armor, not just charges? Just trying to figure it out ; )
 
It's fairly silly that the item has an effect that isn't implemented. If this is what the original poster was implying, then I agree wholeheartedly.

You could listsold a squirrel for 750pp, doesn't mean someone is going to buy it.

This still doesn't answer who has been playing long enough to have 350p sitting around to essentially waste on a 1 charge item if it actually worked, but does not know this item and the line of spells is broken.

Even if it worked, 350pp for a 1 charge mid level pet? :psyduck:
 
I only saw that someone was actually selling it for that much. Not saying that people will buy it.
I wouldn't buy it myself ( one charge item for 350pp, no way), but I know some people that level pretty fast and nearly never have a look on those boards. They could buy it easily ( not saying that they would even be interested in buying, but that it's an error they could easily make).
After all it's in the game, so why would some people not buy it? I have no clue on the others motivations.
And anyways, it should be modified just because it's broken.

I'd be willing to come up with a replace item if Wiz is too busy, but with Monster Summoning on the "to do" list, I'd be willng to bet he has it sitting around in game for a reason.
 
I just finished monster summoning so you can stop whining about this item. :keke:
