I understand that everyone here pretty much came here because this is an alternitive to sony's EQ servers and 'community' that's sprung up around said servers. I like how things are, I honestly and truely do. However, and this is just me thinking out loud, would it be possible to, at some point in the future translate the basic world concept, lore, and all that to a non eq based game? I understand I might brand myself as stupid by saying this but wouldn't the fact we're using everquest's game client for our own activities end up raising some sort of legal mess if sony decided to make it a priority of thiers to hassle those that run things here? Trust me, I know creating a game client plus server code FOR that client, especially for a game world as complex and lmassive as Dayala, would be the equivilant of climing Mt. Everast with no climbing gear but just for the sake of arguement. If an alternitive client existed that gave comperable preformance would the community here be interested in switching over?
And no I don't happen to have anything ready to pull out of my robes....its just something that, if I can learn a few things, I was potentially going to look into as a use for the torque game engine since it already has the capasity to work with a fair number of clients per server(tribes 2 was designed with a max of 64 players per server and I've seen servers out there with over a hundred or so...not near enough for our needs at peak times but its food for thought especially if more can be handled).
