Solo suggestion question

beastlords are monk/shamans that need little gear & help in the beginning right?

Pretty much. As Naphaim said, their pet does not fit that, it is more comparable to a mage generic pet. And the class has the best pet heal in the game. As with the other hybrids though, it is really the combination of abilities that makes it so strong.

Bare fists are a pretty strong weapon. They need armor more than a monk, but it really does not require much farming. The slow is the main way to reduce damage. The Thurg quests provide a haste item and CS item.

ranger / shaman duo box beats anything.. really...

ranger can tank pretty easly with 2x 1h and shaman slows/dots/heals/buffs are the shizzle

But isn't the question about a solo class and not a box duo? I also have not found the ranger to be a good tank without some pretty heavy twinkage.

Don't forget shaman haste... You don't need so many heals when the mob does 50% less damage and you're doing 50% more damage :D

Beastlord has been great so far imo, i've boxed with a cleric but beastlord/ shaman could be a neat idea too; the beastlord pet tanks pretty well and your beast can heal it very well, leaving your shaman to eat himself and dot and slow and stuff. monk/ shaman is a little generic, but only because the box is awesome, so i hear.

but yeah i rocked the sk/shaman and there's alot of fun in that combo; i could root rot harthuk lords in my late 50's because of the combined dots of both classes.

That being said necro/ shaman could also work. You have the necro pet that you can buff up with the shaman, slows and the two best dot classes in game- not to mention both's abilities to regain mana (and regen for the necro).

Look, soloing is not easy in EQ... period. Your best bet is to box your way to 65, farm some stuff and then twink chars to solo... now you'll be soloing your way with ease. That's what i did and i don't regret that aspect... twinking chars is a fun hobby !

I don't want to be argumentative, but I think the shaman is the least preferable healer for a beastlord. The BST can haste and slow almost as well. And since the beast is limited on CC, a group heal has proved helpful to me at times. That way the BST, Pet and Healer can each take on one and the healer just group heal for manna effeciency.

I like the idea of druid, which is what I use, for the utility. Add regen and damage shield to the haste/slow and you have an even more efficient combination. And with the relic heal, I don't see a huge benefit of a cleric's larger heal. I heal 60% of the beastlord's HP in less than 4 seconds. Harmony is nice in outside zones, but lull would be nice as well.

Don't have a necro, so I can't claim that I've boxed one with my shaman. But my buddy does, and he and I have laid waste to many things in many zones. I shudder to think how quickly we could burn through stuff if we could DS our pets...
