The community generally feels that you cannot "camp" giants, actually. Just about everything else is respected by most players, but giants are FFA. Guild leaders do not want to hear about it anymore.

It basically comes down to you cannot trust anyone's word when it comes to the giants. You can leave the zone, gate back when you get bored an hour later, kill 4 of 5 giants, and graciously offer to leave the area to the wizard who killed the 5th, who will respond "Good, I have only been here two hours."

The island giants are a little more campable, because they are higher level and more remote.

The ice giants you can consider camped, as the 7 static spawns are tightly confined and a spawn pattern can be defined. Still, if you leave them up for a few minutes, people will come get them.

yeah i definitely agree there, when it comes to giants really no one gives a damm, it happens, and happens to everyone frequently. I mean sure it would be nice to sit for 8 or 9 hours uninterrupted just farming the hell out of giants, but really unless you can keep em all permadown, someone is gonna show up and grab em at some point. Of course there are times when people should respect camps for sure, like say in dungeons, if you waltz into mielc and start doing crypt w/another group there...now thats being a dick. It's not being to smart either as either one group leaves and you get a bad rep, leading to less groupage down the road possibly, or you both start rushing the hell out of things and one group or another, possibly both wipes, when really all you had to do was head the other direction. Or say someone is camping the same damm mob for like 5 hours, over and over again, just waiting for a questpiece or something, in that case hell yes, respect the camp, though I would be willing to bet a goodly number of people do simply because it isnt worth the time for a 50/50 shot possibly less of engaging first (in the case of a single mob) and many more if assured a first engage would be a dick and just go for it. But then again dems the bones so to speak, some people are dicks, some people aren't.

Aaubert, you were wrong in that instance.

Though there are no Gm-recognised camps, the community generally feels otherwise. You came in and took one of his mobs. You admittidly made the mistake of not checking if they're camped. The guy gets a bit pissed off, so what do you do? You steal every singe mob he had.

So what if he was a bit snippy, you were stealing his camp. Thankfully it was only a druid.

Way to go, you showed me that you can act like a dick.

I take issue to the statement, *though there are no Gm-recognised (sp) camps, the community generally feels otherwise.

The community that i would consider myself part of believes the GMs when they say *there are no camps on SoD*... period.

If someone treats me as if i'm part of a community, instead of ordering me around, i'll respond to them as part of a community.

I don't walk around the world of Dalaya /shouting *Hay Guys! Anyone mind if i kill %t?* before I engage, and don't plan on it.

Please. Your logic is flawed.

You acted like a dick. If you steal one of my camps, there's not a damned thing I can do about it. I can only hope that (assuming you stole one of my camps) I had the oportunity to deny a group to you in the future.

We do not recognize camps in any shape or form. "Rights" to a mob in the eyes of the staff belongs to whoever engaged it first. Anything beyond this very simple rule is for players to settle.

I'm going to go ahead and lock this thread befoe it gets any more ugly.

the other day, i was camped out at island giant camp, and there was an unengaged island giant at the corner of the island. I'm not a tracking class, i didn't even think to check and see if someoen else was there, i simply saw a giant, killed it, end of story. Then some idiot level 60 druid walks over from the other side of the island and says, *next time, ask first* ....

...

...

You see, normally, I wouldn't jack someone's camp, even if there aren't *camps* in SoD. i know that a level 60 druid can handle killing 3 of those in the time they repop, no problem, so i'd let them, and i'd move along. But after the only interaction i got from the kid was a command to ask his permission before i kill a mob thats no where near him.... I decided that i didn't give a damn about him after that point, and proceeded to kill all the mobs on the island, engaging them with 1.5 second cast time spells while he was casting 4second spells....

People sometimes act as if the non-camp policy in SoD is facilitating abuse. Truth of the matter is, unless you have the interpersonal skills of a dead monkey, it makes for a much friendlier environment for everyone. Unless someone is terribly abusive, I'll respond in kind to how they're acting. Start out by treating me as your subject to command, and I'll do the same. Start out by asking kindly for a favor, and i'll kindly do you a favor.

Let me just make clear that while we do not recognize camps, I personally think you're a dick, based on that story. :)
