SoD Banner Help!

I will be spending oodles of money on a Something Awful banner advertising campaign and I need something clever, funny and informative.

Here are the specs:
40kB max, exactly 468x60px
Allowed types: GIF, PNG, JPG

If I use your banner id be happy to offer some fame. Remember it is SA so crazy stuff works too. I am going to be buying 10-20 of these bad boys so I can put up different ones or the same or whatever just submit stuff for the love of god!

just needs a little MS Paint-work, and this baby is ready to rock (and yes I'm dead serious, it's SA ffs)


my alternate suggestion is to take all the sigs that Viv did turn them into a gif like a snappy who's-who of SoD

or...something about SoD is to Everquest what Methamphetamines were to Cocaine?

I like the Nostalgia one.

I don't know how much we are allowed/want to put "EverQuest" in the add, but in my opinion, what drew myself and many others in, and what I think will be most effective is something that links it to oldschool EverQuest.

SoD really is a vastly different game, but it FEELS like old EQ. It doesnt hold your hand. Its more about grouping and the social aspects of the game. Familiar classes/races. Past that our content is totally unique and that's even better because who wants to play the same game over again, but when you get started and you hear that music and see the char select screen, make a char, and get into the game and feel the old UI/AI/mechaincs it just feels so nostalgic and cool. From there you realize its actually a very different game and respecable for its own reasons, but that inital similarity and nostalgia gets people to download, and play enough to get to a point where they start to enjoy it for itself.

I don't have the skills to make this thing, but if I did it would be something like:

NEVER FOUND A MMO
TO REPLACE EVERQUEST?
ARE NEW MMOS TOO EASY
AND LACKING IN COMMUNITY?

TRY SHARDS OF DALAYA
A FREE MMO WITH TOTALLY
CUSTOM CONTENT, BUT
THE OLD EQ FEEL/COMMUNITY

I wrote SOD in big letters to the right of each catchphrase, as a big symbol/clicky, but i guess the forums got rid of the spaces and made it look even worse than it was =p

Same. I came for the EQ and stayed for the SoD. I understand all perspectives on the topic. However, when I pitch the game to my friends, that's the only angle that gets them interested. It seems like a strong position to try and draw players from.
 
Agreed, very awesome banner!

Maybe use a different pic for 'All New Content'? The idea is spot on, its just a bit unclear what that is at a glance (and if you aren't familiar with the pic in question)

It seemed like the best section of the image to use, but i guess i can find something from some other thing to fill in that frame. i'll see what i can come up with next week, if it doesnt get run before then...
