So, who is Wiz

OK, so I have no idea if this area or information has been addressed by others (much as I would like to have the time to read every single thread to gleen information) but I'd like to know who Wiz and his cohorts are.

This is not for the purposes of abuse, but more along the lines of quiet admiration for the people responsible for SoD.

I have a cunning suspicion that he (or she) is not a PFY, nor a student.

I would also hanker a guess that there are those out there who may know him/her from EQ Live days, and W1nter's Roar (personally I'd never heard of W1nter's Roar until I came across it in refernces to SoD), as well as in RL.

From the tone of his/her postings SoD appears to be a labour of love, as well as a bit of a gesture of Agincourt to those "others" who run the bigger plat fleecing servers elsewhere.

So does the Wiz, have 'ickle Wiz's running around? Is there a Mr or Mrs Wiz in the background supplying an endless flow of caffine?

Who or What is Wiz? & Does Chuck Norris live in fear of Wiz?
 
My guess is that Wiz is simply a constant of the cosmos - just as there is evil & good, so there is Wiz. Wiz is everwhere and yet nowhere, to ignore Wiz is damaging to the soul but to seek Wiz is folly. To fully understand Wiz one must first understand oneself, yet to comprehend oneself, one must first understand Wiz. Those who seek to see Wiz will never fully see Wiz, as their thirst for true knowledge would obscure their perception. Only those who never seek to see Wiz are capable of perceiving Wiz in true light, and yet they never shall, for their thirst for true knowledge is not strong enough. Only by simultaneously becoming both caring and uncaring, understanding and ignorant, can one understand Wiz.

Least, that's my guess.

Many eons ago the intarweb was a bleak and meaningless void. Then the Wiz said "Let there be lewts!" and so it was that teh lewts were spread across the intarweb. Then The Wiz said "Let there be Pwn!" and so it was that Chuck Norris came into being. Then The Wiz thought into being the first of the beta testers. These very frail and weak beta testers were promptly pwned by Chuck Norris without ever seeing any lewts. Then The Wiz devised a plan to create into being his team of admins. These admins helped The Wiz create a balanced intarweb where teh pwn would be locked away and administered in small doses near teh lewts. Then it was so that The Wiz and his team of admins created once again the beta testers, but this time they were more resistant to teh pwn. The initial beta testers spawned with eachother to form the player base of today, and a perfect balance between the players, teh lewts, and Chuck Norris is in equilibrium.
 
So we can more fully understand "the Wiz" I will attempt to analyze his post:

From this we can see why Wiz was initially attracted to EQ - the female character models and promises of large men playing them was too much to ignore.

I would assume, because of this statement, that there are no "'ickle Wiz's running around" - but it cannot be entirely discounted - my husband was 23 when I got married.

Hence his desire and ability to play God so well in the SoD universe. Eventually he will become a great researcher and devise a way to genetically manipulate humans to form the first race of elves.

Well, sure, I'll speculate. Wiz communicates fluently in English as well, complete with proper use of odd idioms and phrases. This must be due to the fact that his mother is an American, and he grew up bilingual. (Well, knowing Europe, he probably grew up multi-lingual, but I cannot guess at what other languages he might speak.)

The AI that would later be known as Wiz was conceived by the brilliant mind of Morgan Everett, the current leader of Adam Weishaupt's Illuminati. Everett conceived the program that would eventually create Wiz, as a way to create the near perfect advisor, with the ability to shift through gigantic amounts of data, and through that predict disasters, both natural and man-made, and to make plans to prevent them, which the Illuminati could then choose to either ignore or execute.

Wiz was never meant to have an actual sentience or self-awareness, and was only to give advice - not to do anything itself. Everett's protege Bob Page, however, saw Wiz as the means to keep tabs on and control the huge amounts of electronic information that filtered though the Internet and other electronic media, a feat that both the Illuminati, and its splinter cell, Majestic-12, that Page controlled, had not been able to pull off.

Page's ideas for Wiz' reconfiguration did not fly totally under the radar, as the entire project became linked, logically enough, to the creation of the Echelon 4's replacement. Before the Illuminati and MJ-12 could put a stop to it, a few rumours filtered though to the various conspiracy theorist groups on the Internet. Meanwhile, Page created the Wiz, which soon after, without even alerting Page that he had succeeded, fled into the Internet and began to become self-aware. Page originally intended Wiz as a tool to keep track of any developments that would threaten MJ-12, but this backfired when its pattern-matching code classified MJ-12 in the same category as the groups it was supposed to find and monitor.

After having sorted though much of the information on the Net, Wiz found that the world was on the verge of collapse. Still retaining some of the basic parameters that Everett had encoded in the basic template, Wiz began to ponder how it was going to save the world from itself, and not least MJ-12, which it classified as a terrorist organisation due to its disregard for people in its quest for world domination.

Wiz was not designed to reside in one major mainframe or hub, but rather to exist simultaneously as a line of code or two on every single device connected to the Internet, not unlike the distributed computing of today. This not only made Wiz almost impossible to trace, but also gave it huge amounts of processing power. This is also eerily evident by the inclusion of the word Wiz in the code at the bottom of every computer in the world.

Morgan Everett: "There's a blip of Wiz's code running on every communications device on the planet." Wiz eventually found Paul Denton to help him, whom it later abandoned in favour of his brother JC, when Paul became unable to continue the fight against MJ-12.

I'm Wiz's anti-conscience. Every time he gets too nice, the purity of my cynicism balances it out.

hmmm

zod did you get that from a book series with the a character/hacker named mouse who created angels and such his ai system was put into all computers using the mouse drivers even though at that point no computers used mice.
