Small "flickers" in gameplay

Temellin

*Gnomalicious*
I recently upgraded from a ATI Radeon card to a Nvidia GeForce FX 5700LE and before when I would play stuff would run fine, but with the new card fairly frequently I will get little lines that flicker across my screen, it did the same for another GeForce card that I put in to test if it was just this card, could it be a driver issue? has anyone else had this problem? I have tried raising and lowering the refresh rates of my monitor and tweaking the in game options to no avail :( I am currently using the 77.72 Drivers and updating to the 91.31 drivers, if anyone has had this problem before some input would be most appreciated!

Re: Small "flickers" in gameplay

Thought it might be a monitor issue so I tried swapping out monitors with no luck :/
Went to the SoE website and used the drivers they reccomend with no luck, still having the problem :/

Re: Small "flickers" in gameplay

Does it happen otherwise, or in other games? And do you run EQ in fullscreen?

Re: Small "flickers" in gameplay

No, it only happens in SoD, not in like Anarchy online or diablo or anything, and no I do not run it in full screen.

Re: Small "flickers" in gameplay

I use version 8.1.9.8 without any problems (Also NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700LE).

Have you tried running 'options' from before you log in?

Re: Small "flickers" in gameplay

Yes I have, I have tried to tweak the in game settings to no avail :( Tried it with all the bells and whistles off, with them all on, with the settings I usually use, and its still yields the same little flicker problem :psyduck:
Also are you running on a 98/ME or XP with 81.98? because I put in the 84.21 drivers because thats what was reccomened for XP users

Re: Small "flickers" in gameplay

I run on Windows XP. Have you tried reinstalling Direct X?

Re: Small "flickers" in gameplay

No I have not, I shall, and I shall also get the 81.98 drivers after removing the 84.21 drivers and see if that helps.

Re: Small "flickers" in gameplay

::EDIT:: It worked for one zone but when I zoned it started up again :/ Its not the kind of thing that cripples my game play so its not the end of the world if it stays pooched, its just mildly annoying :(

Explain the flickering, is it like you have an active window behind your game screen that keeps causing a refresh of your screen, hence, creating the flickering type symptoms? You could try changing your refresh rate of your display to see if that changes it. If you're running on a laptop, change your type to Home/Office for better performance.

Running on a desk top, usually have firefox up in the back ground but it still does it even if I close everything else, have tried full screen mode with nothing up in the back ground and still have it happen. it seems to happen around my text boxes mostly and is usually the same color as the text... its like the text shoots a laser beam about as tall as it is in a horizontal fasion. I am currently at a refresh rate of 60hz

I'm sorry, but I honestly have no clue. You could try going to NVidea's website and search their support forums, or call their support.

Oh, and do you have any way to check if it does the same on live? And have you tried running it both with and without EQW?

I am and think that it may be that, I will reinstall the game and get a fresh download of the UI tomorrow and see if it helps, If I start fresh it may help!

Reinstaled, Patched to Live, Patched to SoD, and put Sars UI for casters on and it still happens, also my "Skills" window doesnt pop up now :what: so I don't know what to do :(

Your skills window is probably just out of bounds. Find the ui_charname_.ini file. Then find the "[SkillsWindow]" and set the X and Y position so they're within bounds of the game.

It was all set to 0 :monocle: what should I set it to :/?
*Edit*Got it set up right :] Thank you very much!
