Skeletal Companion?

What exactly does the Skeletal Companion do? You can summon one with a Canopic Jar (bought with fame points). Any info would be appreciated!

When someting attacks you, he will cast a baby lifetap repeatedly on your attacker, basically useless and more of a toy.
