Okay, so silence is one of the most annoying parts of this game. I understand the dynamic it adds to an encounter, but it drives me nuts to have it cling for so long after the fight is over. I see no reason for it other than frustration. Could it be possible to add something to make it start fading once the mob that casts it dies?

This is a great suggestion. The main point of silence is almost entirely negated by vent for starters - and after the mob dies and you're doing loot it forces everyone in the raid to wait unless every single person has a mic.

Having it taken out all together, or having it fade when the mob dies would be A+ in my book.
 
that or have a shorter duration silence that is casted more frequently. This results in the same effect to the player during the fight, but reduces the recoil afterward.
 
On a different but similar note I always wondered why you couldn't pull up roots once you were out of combat...
