I vote NO
Personally, i feel any extra work on models, or whatever should be done by the players voting yes.
Back when i ran an archaic pos system i moded most of my model files to trim down on my gpu load, lots of naked human models.
I think a great example is this: you can mod a cell phone, or your windows client (not EQ client) to skin it, theme it, whatever. Most of these developers are aware people are doing it too.
However there is a developer community, and a modder community. I like what the Dev team ehre does, and i think pulling from their work, simply to satisfy alot of varied opinions would be wasted effort, and would spread our already slim Dev team thinner than I care to see.
I fully support any players wanting to remake their own model files, etc, however I'm pretty sure the SoD staff wants nothing to do with hosting, or facilitating it because it borders on copyright laws.
Truth is, lots of people already mod their files to make their systems run better, specifically all the linux users.
In short, I vote No on redirecting developer time.
