Shouts for CH's in Zones

I love WR, far more than I do live, but I have a pet peeve, and this doesn't concern the staff, it concerning the other players. I have noticed that it's common when raiding and for some even grouping to /shout the CH's going to the tank. This is annoying to the rest of the people in the zone, no one else in the zone really gives a crap that your sending a CH to such and such in 10 seconds and it's blah blah's turn next. It's spam, IMO, especially because it's done repeatedly. Save /shout if you get a drop your group can't use, etc. If you really have to have your CH in the bold red text so it's not missed, link your groups, go to options and change group text to the bright red and change shout text to another color. I know I changed my text colors to help my vision that is fading pretty quickly. Maybe because of my vision, I find this more annoying than other people, I dunno, but I do know, when I'm on the receiving end of the CH spams, It makes me feel like I'd rather not play ;( And yeah, I could turn /shout off, but then if there is a drop no one else can use in zone, I'm gonna miss out ;( Oh well, it's just a suggestion, and really the only common thing done on WR that I find irratating.

yeah

This is common and the reason being that /g is used for talk/plan during the raid /shout is typically used for CH chains sometimes they use /gu but if people are at the raid that aren't in the guild they do not see the text and as for IRC/Channels I along with some others experience random disconnects from that during play.

If the CH shout bother you horribly you might send a tell to the CH caster and ask them if they could possibly make the CH shouts go to guild chat. Many times people get use to the shoots and don't realize they are still binded to do a shoot with people in the zone.

There my suggestions and assistance
Take it for whats its worth

If a raid is going on in a zone you happen to be xp'ing on, you might be out of luck. Now, I can't speak for Ruin but in Nightfall we use shout for our CH chain and group talk for debuffs and pad heals and such. Guild chat is typically used for other chat as the IRC channels haven't been that reliable for us lately.

If it was just an xp group and they were using shout for their CHs, I typically get annoyed by that as well. But, everytime I have kindly asked them to change it, they have. Kindness works :)

Two reason why I wouldn't turn shouts off.

1.) If there is some cool no drop loot going to rot.

2.) If someone is training. :(

#1 people 99.9% of the time dont let Raid items that are no drop go to random people most the time someone logs a alt for that and

#2 People never announce trains so it dont help much either so if it annoys you try contactin the leader of the raid or just shut shout off

I disagree with you because I've seen both what I mentioned happen before. And, some people do shout train, I've seen about 5 train shouts in elds just this week alone, and I lived through every one of them because I had a chance to get out of the way.

I've seen groups shout about somthing rotting when they don't need it, but your right about raids, not as common for items to get shouted for rot.

Too much of a pain to change the macro everytime we switch from raids to exp groups. Besides the clerics are on their own little subgroup of the raid and need that extra channel to keep up with the heal order.

I don't know, but its not all that much effort NOT to use shout, it is quite anoying to have someone elses raidspam
or CH messages because they are to lazy to make a 2nd bank of macros or use another channel.

CH-chains can be easily taken to either channels or say mode in case channels don't work and the raid
is not limited to the same guild.

Imo its a needless bother for other people if you use shout and are not alone in a zone. Not to mention imagine
two parties raiding the same zone and using shout...

All in all a matter of common sense and courtesy to fellow players, because it is nothing else than plain and simple >> spam <<.

hmm i have only trained a zone twice since i have been on WR and luckily the zones where empty both times

altho my point is that my train message is bound to a key and it uses /shout

So train shouts do occur

As for CH Shouts and stuff, i dont really care but it sometimes annoys people in my group and it was sucky when i once was on a raid in a zone with another guild raiding.

As there is a group linking thing that works, i dont see why CH Shouts cant go into that group chat, then everyone gets to see it, and the default color is bright blue etc

Eh, most raid zones aren't really xp zones, but, yeah, just asking about it tends to work.

I just hate it when people say 'your next'. it's YOU'RE (short for you are).

Its quite hypocritical to say that guilds shouldn't shout CH chains but they should shout rotting gear. If you don't want to hear the shouts, just turn it off, its alot eassier for you to turn it off than for 30 people to adjust to your whims. NF and Ruin both use shout for the CH chain for a reason: because its the most efficient way to announce the chain. Those who don't raid shouldn't be slinging out opinions on how better ways to do so exist or on how raids can adjust to changes with ease.

My opinion is that if the one person is not doing a wrong use of the /shout command, and the 30 people are annoying him/her, the 30 people should bother not disturbing the one person.

It reminds me the eternal smoking discussion, where people who don't smoke must smell other's smoke even in closed building. EVEN when law is with non-smokers. The 30 smokers should get out of the building and stop annoying the non-smoker. :) Even if it is more efficient for the smokers to stay inside the building working while smoking.

Look at it lke this.

Look at it like this. From the RP side.

there are 30 people, 5 or 6 of them are trying to coordinate heals. They're screaming to each other at the top of their lungs, above alazif's grunts, the rampage tanks' flat out bawling, the newbies who are drawing aggro screaming for mommy...

You'd be yelling too.

Raids are loud, and have a tendency to have little consideration for those who are xping. We are there to kill our target. We are not there to aquiece to your whims. If you don't like shouts, turn them off, zone out, or ignore the clerics.

They dont have to be loud, /rs on live worked fine, so why shouldnt /g work on here? Apart from that let me
repeat it: there is a 'say' channel that is unused and doesnt bug the whole zone., just in case channels dont work,
and they mostly do work if he whole raid relogs before engage, which you do anyway to prevent LD bug. So?...

We just had it recently: 2 guilds raiding in stormkeep, using /shout and #group link add all doesnt work then.
It was bugging both guilds. As the WR community is growing some people need to think about changing some
habits that used to work fine when you are alone in zone, but it won't work if you are not.

That as practical experience.

You see, one of the rules of the server is to be nice to ppl if I don't recall bad. So having little consideration for those who are xping should be against the rules. Then using /shout for raids should be against the rules.
